We have been watching our buds grow very slowly and along with the arrival of autumn our experiment of growing a cannabis plant in adverse conditions has become more interesting, and by that, we mean 'more difficult'.
For about 4 weeks now the temperatures have been dropping and the humidity levels have been increasing. We have noticed that some leaves have developed white spots, superficial spots like something superficial in the leaves.
Hemos estado viendo nuestros cogoyos crecer muy lentamente y junto con la llegada del otoño nuestro experimento de cultivar una planta de cannabis en condiciones adversas se ha puesto más interesante, y con eso nos referimos a "más dificil".
Desde hace unas 4 semanas las temperaturas han ido bajando y los niveles de humedad aumentando. Hemos visto que a algunas hojas les salieron una manchas blancas, manchas superficiales como de algo pegado en la hoja.
When we investigated we discovered that it is a fungus called 'White Powdery Mildew' and that like most fungus and mold proliferate due to excess humidity.
We are fighting the fungus with all the remedies we have at hand, i.e. defoliating to avoid leaves too close together, wiping the leaves with wet towels, spraying with potassium water, spraying with milky water, we have reduced the amount of watering and also let a few extra days pass between waterings to make sure the substrate does not get too wet.
Al investigar descubrimos que es un hongo que se llama "Oido" y que como gran mayoría de los hongos y moho, proliferan por exceso de humedad.
Estamos luchando con el hongo con todos los remedios que tenemos a la mano, por ejemplo, defoliar para evitar hojas demasiado juntas, limipiar las hojas con toallas húmedas, aspersor con agua potásica, aspersor con agua lechosa, hemos reducido la cantidad de riego y tambíen hemos dejado pasar unos días extra entre riegos para asegurar que el sustrato no quede demasiado húmedo.
That pretty much covers everything we've tried, and it seems to be somewhat under control, but it hasn't gone away. At this point, we don't know if it will get worse and if the harvest will be considered fit for consumption but we will see in time.
Currently, our plant is 8 months old and in full bloom, so we took the time to take some macro photos to better appreciate the beautiful pistils and small trichomes that started to appear a few days ago.
Eso cubre bastante todo lo que hemos intentado, y parece estar algo controlado, pero no ha desaparecido. En este punto no sabemos si empeorará y si la cosecha se considerará apta para consumo pero eso lo veremos con el tiempo.
Actualmente nuestra planta tiene 8 meses de vida y está en pleno proceso de floración, así que nos tomamos el tiempo de hacer unas fotos macro para apreciar mejor los hermosos pistilos y pequeños tricomas que empezaron a aparecer hace algunos dias.
However, in all the photos you can see parts where the fungus is battling with trichomes for space on the leaves. Let's hope we can win the battle against the fungus and have our small but healthy harvest.
These images are not like the ones from @derangedvisions but we're very happy with them, they're perfect to document our so far partial success of growing cannabis.
Sin embargo, en todas las fotos se pueden ver partes donde el hongo está batallando con tricomas por espacio en las hojas. Esperemos poder ganarle la batalla al hongo y poder tener nuestra pequeña pero saludable cosecha.
Estas imágenes no son como las de @derangedvisions pero estamos muy contentos con ellas, son perfectas para documentar nuestro hasta ahora parcial éxito en el cultivo de cannabis.

Sucks about the fungus, but I think that is a very common problem for indoor growers, thats why you see people with a million fans, lol. But i think you did prove that cannabis can be grown on the window ledge, perhaps next time just have a fan pointed on it.
