Simply The Best; Tina Turner Lives!

in AFRI-TUNES16 days ago

Tina Turner was an intense depiction of the real person behind the Tina Turner stage persona, Anna Mae Bullock.

Born Anna Mae Bullock on November 26, 1939, in Nutbush, Tennessee, she grew up as a poor child in the rural south, picking cotton, in a home filled with domestic violence, and which sets a tone of sadness that truly never left her, despite her international triumphs as an entertainer.

Her story is heartbreaking, suffering brutality in the hands of her first husband. And though treated so poorly early in life, she chose to rise through the ashes, becoming one of the greatest forces to be reckoned with, in the world of music. Her powerful voice was matchless, her energy boundless, her performances electrical.

How did she persevere? How did she still have the energy left to go out on stage and give her very best?

Her lifelong search for love? It's good to know Tina found a happy love in her last decades with Erwin Bach.

Here's to the woman who overcame, The Queen Of Rock-'n'-roll, Tina, she was simply the best!

My picks for today are;

💃🎤🎧

🎵What's Love Got to Do with It?
🎵I don't wanna lose you
🎵 The Best
🎶✨

"What's Love Got to Do with It" was released in 1984 and immediately became a defining song of the 80s. "What’s Love Got to Do with It" tells the story of a woman who views love as nothing more than a "second-hand emotion.", she further sings;

Who needs a heart
When a heart can be broken

Her journey into love was unsuccessful and she had started to view it as a second hand emotion and a sweet old fashioned notion, that's speaking from a place of hurt and brokenness, passing a no-confidence vote on Love.

Her raspy, soulful vocals infused every line with deep emotion, making it feel like a personal declaration of self-empowerment. It won Record of the Year at the Grammys and remains one of her most iconic songs.

"I don't wanna lose you", released in 1989 is a far cry from "What's Love Got To Do With It", I see it as more than a song, but of a woman who once stopped believing in love, opening her heart once again to this powerful emotion, like the beautiful petals granting access to the rays of the emerging sunlight. She was willing to take a chance on Love while expressing this deep and passionate plea!

I don't wanna lose you
I don't even wanna say goodbye, oh, no
I just wanna hold on
To this true love, true love

"The Best", though originally done by Bonnie Tyler, Tina's version conferred on it a legendary status.

The song became a universal anthem, used in sports, motivational moments, and even personal affirmations but I see beyond all of that, and cherish the heartfelt search of a woman who desperately wants to win in Love.

You're simply the best
Better than all the rest
Better than anyone
Anyone I've ever met
I'm stuck on your heart
I hang on every word you say
Tear us apart
Baby, I would rather be dead

A very intense and commanding delivery by Tina. I'm glad she eventually found "The Best" in her search for True Love.

Despite the challenges faced by this powerhouse artist, I call her "a woman of steel", she made it through the night and ended well. This is enough motivation for anyone "down there', that we have the capacity to redefine our paths and to turn things around for the best.
I hope you have a wonderful time listening to these tunes.
