Music involves combination of sounds that are of pleasant hearing and appealing to the hearer which makes it different from noise. Music involves vocals and instrumentation or either and in some cases, there can be visual displays alongside hence making it an audiovisual art. The combination, arrangement, pleasantness and the expression of any music are key to its recognition and acceptance. Love on the other hand is an affection, a strong emotional inclination, intense attraction, acceptance, goodwill etc to someone or something. Music and love are connected in some ways and the following are the possible connects between the duo:
• MUSIC AND LOVE BOTH HAVE AN IMPACT/EFFECT ON HUMAN MIND (SOUL)
Good music has a positive influence and effect on the human mind (soul) which is the seat of human reasoning, will, emotions, intellect. Music can lightens or brightens up a soul and can also calm it i.e. relaxes it. Music can aid learning as it can enlighten or educates. Love on the other hand involves strong emotional inclination and is affectionate in nature. The human senses of sight and hearing which are like the "gates" to the mind are also involved in both music and love. Therefore, music and love both exact influence on the human mind i.e. the soul.
• MUSIC AND LOVE ARE BOTH EXPRESSIBLE
Music can be expressed through singing, humming, dancing, dramatic display alongside singing etc while love too is expressible through words and actions like givings, showing concerns/care etc. In addition, music can express love through love songs with love lyrical contents while through love, music can be expressed by singing a love song for a loved one or the person's favourite song. Therefore, ability to express music and love even though they both involves the mind (soul) is a good connect between them.
• MUSIC AND LOVE PROMOTES PEACE, ENHANCES WELLBEING
One great ability of both music and love is promoting peace and peaceful coexistence among us and enhancing wellbeing. Music is one of the vital industry and tool for national peace and unity which is evident in the adoption of national anthem by countries of the world. Also, various artistes from different ethnicity and nations do collaborations all promoting peace. Love aswell promotes peace and well-being as love conquers evil and is the panacea to the problems we have as humans and in the countries of the world. When we love one another, we live in peace and our quality of life and well being is enhanced. Therefore, both music and love promotes peace and enhances wellbeing.
• MUSIC AND LOVE ARE THERAPEUTIC IN NATURE
Music and love both have healing and restorative ability which is been employed in the therapeutic management of some disorders. Music goes beyond entertainment alone and its ability to lighten up mood in distress and to relaxes it in tense moments are therapeutic in managing mood disorders. Also, showing love, care and affection to people especially those experiencing a traumatic life situation and having a difficult time can bring healing and restoration to such individuals and inspires hope. Music of hope been listened to by such individuals can inspire hope to them and these are all therapeutic in nature bringing about healing and restoration.
Therefore, there is a strong connect between music and love with both agelong since the inception of man even though may differ in expression. For example, during wedding celebrations which is an occasion of celebration of love, music is maximized for entertainment purpose whether in the traditional marriage or the civil one. Other examples includes special occasions or events organised for a loved one with music involved for entertainment purpose aswell.
