Afri-InLeo Initiative - The Rhythm, Melody or Lyrics Which Do I Prefer?
Hello everyone good day and welcome to my blog. I will be sharing my points about the topic for this week's Afri-Inleo initiative.
I find this topic very interesting because it literally describing our present lives with music. I respect everyone's taste for music because music is supposed to be enjoyed and appreciated by anyone who loves music. Talking about this week's topic; The Rhythm, Lyrics or Melody which do you enjoy the most in music, for me I have high taste for good music and my definition for good music is very simple.
A good music on my own opinion should be able to tell or whisper something to me, be it something pleasant or something that will make me sad it must be doing something to me otherwise it is a pure noise to me.
A good music for me must not contain heavy instrumentation and harmony because only with rhythm, lyrics and of course the melody music is formed already. I can manage music without harmony, and even lyrics but I don't know if music can exist without melody😀
Sounds have the ability to transmit to us the feeling we want to get. I could pick my guitar and start creating some sort of sounds that pleases my heart and I feel good with that. As long as I get satisfied in my spirit, am okay.
I happen to play one of the instruments that doesn't say a word but can give you a clue of what it's singing. The trumpet which is among the brass family can create pleasant melody just like other brass instrument, they are known for reading or leading music amongst other instrument but never say a word. It's not as if I am not happy the trumpet doesn't talk because I don't think I will remain a trumpeter when the trumpeter starts to speak words..lol
I am a trumpeter and we believe the trumpet leads songs just like lead singers in a band but doesn't talk or say a word rather it sings sounds of melody. To further explain what I mean by trumpet sings without talking or saying a word, I have played the trumpet in many occasions and I don't know the song. My listeners can get the interpretation of the song but me playing the trumpet don't even know all the lyrics in that song. This is the origin of me loving music even without lyrics because I play an instrument that creates music but doesn't talk.
I appreciate musics with good sounds, well arranged lyrics and a nice rhythm but if I find myself in a situation where I must make decision by choosing only one, then I with melody which is the main music itself. The melody line forms the music and then then rhythm and lyrics makes the music more interesting and beautiful. I can't imagine having to listen to a song with melody, if there's at all music without melody.
Harmony is incomplete with melody, and I don't know how far harmony will make sense from the bringing of a song to the end of the song without melody, it might try but will it last?
The only instrument that I feel can stand alone and play without the melody lines is the drums since it mostly deals with the beat or rhythm of songs. In nut-shell, It is save to say all the elements of music are very essential to music and that's why they are there, the lyrics, the melody and the rhythm, each of them complements the other and music is always at it's best when it has all this very crucial parts present in it.
Thank you for reading to the end, This is Afri-Inleo contest week3 and it's still ongoing, do well to hop in with your entries for the theme (What Resonates With You The Most in Music: The Lyrics, The Rhythm, or Melody?").

Yeah everybody has his own definition of music. Thank you for the wonderful write-up. It just get to me that both Melody and noise are sounds but one is pleasant to the hears of the listener while the other is a disturbance.
Well done brotherly
