It starts with the story of a baby born in Bethlehem; it ends with the glory of a spotless lamb being raised again. The earth is rejoicing; heaven and nature sing its Christmas!!! Come and see what the angels saw this blessed morning: God so loved that he gave his son. Oh, Jesus Christ has come. It’s Christmas.
Read on as I share my favorite Christmas song, discussing it between the lines. Written by Mark Lowry and Buddy Greene, a timeless and thought-provoking Christmas song that delves into extraordinary events surrounding the birth and life of Jesus Christ, this song captured the essence of Jesus living upon the face of the earth. The baby Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, lying in a manger, wrapped in swaddling clothing. Mary couldn’t stop looking at her delicate baby, gotten through the holy ghost resting on her from on high; she gazed upon her little one for the first time, struck by his tiny, delicate features, probably weighing average pounds in size and a few inches in length, tiny and fragile, so beautiful to be adorned, “My baby boy,” she muttered amidst tears, “The Lord has shown and given me favor; I’m most blessed amongst all, his handmaiden.”.
Mary knew her baby boy came from God but it was expedient for Mark Lowry to ask if she knew her baby boy would one day walk on water and even bid Peter to come; Mark needed to know if she knew that her tiny baby boy would get hung on the cross, taking away her sins and ours, delivering us all. Did she know her son had and gave out new spare body parts to the deficient? Oh yes! He gave sight to the blind, ears to the deaf and restored dumbness, demons fled on seeing the son of God, He straightened the bent back, gave new pair of legs to the cripple, told the paralytic ones to pick up their mat and go, have you read where he called Lazarus up from the tomb after 3 days, the stone was rolled, though his body stinking, Mary’s boy called Lazarus forth, read through the bible and you will see where he told the dead little lady “Talitha cumi” which means “Little girl, I say to you arise”, so much so that he needs not to follow you home before you get healed, just like the centurion servant and others, the woman with the issue of blood just knew the hem of his garment was enough to get her healed and whole, that happened just instantly, so much of miraculous and redemptive story of this Little baby boy.
Embedded in Mary’s little boy is one with the solution to all our problems; he does it with so much ease. Look at the little child again. He’s the Lord of all creation. He’s heaven’s perfect lamb. When she kissed her baby’s face, she kissed the face of God and the sleeping child she’s holding, the Great I Am!!! And so, in this regard, we commemorate his birth today. The best gift to have had on earth was the birth of our Savior. Jesus Christ.
Song by Mark Lowry
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy
Would one day walk on water?
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy
Would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know
That your baby boy
Has come to make you new?
This Child that you delivered
Will soon deliver you.
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy
Will give sight to the blind man?
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy
Would calm a storm with His hand?
Did you know
That your baby boy
Has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little baby
You've kissed the face of God?
Mary, did you know?
Oo, Mary, did you know?
The blind will see
The deaf will hear;
The dead will live again!
The lame will leap
The dumb will speak
The praises of the Lamb!
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy
Is the Lord of all creation?
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy
Will one day rule the nations?
Did you know
That your baby boy
Was heaven's perfect Lamb?
And the sleeping Child you're holdin'
Is the Great I Am!
