It is a great privilege for me to be able to take part in the afri-Inleo initiative 18, which is titled The Influence of Music on the Youth. This was created by the #afritunes community in conjunction with inleo. While I forgot to speak about this initiative, I took it upon myself to make sure that I write a post about this topic before it ends, which I am actually doing now. So I really love this topic so much that I get so motivated to talk about topics relating to music, and that is because I can easily relate to everything around it just like the topic has expressed it.
So music today has been a body, or, let me say, an entity, that has been really dominating the world and actually dominating the youth also because most of the youth of this generation really loves music, and it is very hard before you would not get a single youth who loves music to the extent that the way they really love music is even more than the way most people take other things. Aside from youth, I have seen a situation where a little boy or a little girl sings, and the songs that they sing are songs that they shouldn't have known if things were equal. So this is just to tell you that music has a lot of impact on the lives of everyone, most especially the youth.
Now let's take it to the circular world where we listen to different musics, and judging from the kind of music that has been training now, you will agree with me that music has really impacted in the youth one way or the other so it's depends on which way you have chosen for music to influence you good or bad. Some of the youth love to listen to hip hop music Afrobeat music why some do not like this version or genre of music but on the other and some people love to listen to gospel music while some don't.

These songs will easily get everyone listening to them because you have chosen the part which you want to go through, and it is not left to you to go with the kind of music you want. The way the youth of this generation love music has become so serious that most people can actually recite the lyrics of a song from the beginning to the end without a break, and some really find it so difficult to read a page of a book. Why is this? This is because they have listened to this song times without number, and they are able to assimilate the lyrics of the song with ease.
On a final note, I will say music has generally affected the youth positively because most of the gatherings that are being held for youth these days which do not involve music, and you will hardly see a youth in such a gathering if there is no music there because music has been what motivates every youth, especially when it is a gathering of many people. Music has not just been helpful to lighten the mood of the youth, it has also helped in communicating with one another. For example, yesterday I was in a discussion with a friend, and while we were discussing, we had a talk, and he was able to use song lyrics to give me an answer that I don't know about.

This is also part of what makes the youth very special, and I think the best way to even get any youth to a gathering or to an event is through a good music, which can easily trigger them. Imagine organizing a party and getting to the party. If there is nothing like music, you will see that the youth will be the first people to leave that kind of gathering. Not just about that alone, even in churches today, when there is no musical coordination to produce good music, you will find that you will hardly see youths in that church, which means music has a strong part to play in the lives of every youth.
