I feel so bad for abandoning my account for an entire month after writing my introduction article. I didn't see it this way; I never thought I would stay away for this long and kept procrastinating about when to return and pick myself up.
That being said, it's fine, I’m back now and hoping to stay consistent while maintaining a writing streak here. While I was away, I took my time to ask a lot of questions and learned many things I ought to know from my referrer.
To fully resume my writing journey, I would like to participate in the prompt in this community, which is about How I’m Coping with My Music Resolutions. I will also combine this with my entry to #TTT.
Did I Boldly Write Down My Musical Resolutions This Year?
Honestly, I didn’t. The only thing I was sure of was that my mind was made up to keep up with the latest music trends as they dropped. Music, especially the type I enjoy, the African music, has evolved significantly from what we used to know back then. It is important to follow the trend unless one chooses to sit on the fence. However, in the long run, such a person will either fall in love with modern music or stick to the old ones—and if one leans toward the old, that is completely living in the past.
Maybe I am not the only one who has this mindset about music. I simply enjoy following trends and do not want to be left out. I try to keep up with the songs being released, though it is impossible to follow all of them. There are so many talented artists whose songs do not get the recognition they deserve.
That is why I am selecting the following trending songs for my timetable:
Joy Is Coming – Fido
YouTube video. This song has been a massive trend and hit since the beginning of the year. It was released in December 2024, and the way everyone instantly fell in love with it is just magical. I like the song as well, and it is currently one of the biggest songs in Nigeria and Africa. The song is by Fido, an artist I am hearing about for the first time.
Who Does That – Fola & Bella Shmurda
YouTube video. This song is low-key but making a significant impact on the charts. I first watched its video on Trace Naija (DSTV), and I instantly fell in love with it. It is such a beautiful song.
Fola is not yet very famous, and I believe this is one of his first major works. Meanwhile, Bella Shmurda, who has been in the industry for a while, showed his professionalism in the song.
Money – Teni
YouTube Video. This song carries a deep message, especially at the beginning. It starts with a thought-provoking statement about the age-old debate on whether money buys happiness or not. Teni boldly declares that she understands the argument but still wants all the money in the world.
The song is incredibly catchy, with clear and meaningful lyrics that are easy to understand.
That’s it! I am back on track and ready to stay consistent. Thank you!
