Celebrating Small Wins: Freelance Content Writer Edition

Nobody starts by being good at something on their first try, and that is the beauty and power of growth. As someone who pursues a passion for writing, the journey is never smooth and easy. I had experienced every bit of downfall no one ever knew about. Yet, here I am, still striving to be better and to catch up with upskilling.

Recently, I took a break from writing on blogging platforms to focus on working with my clients on Upwork. I chose to dedicate more time to this, as it would help my account grow and attract more projects.

After weeks of working on my Upwork profile and achieving milestones, I’m starting to see the results of my efforts. While the statistics haven’t moved as much compared to other freelancers, I’m still grateful, especially since I’ve only been dedicating my free hours to writing here.

Now, let me share the story of my small victories!

1. I received good feedbacks from clients.

One of my clients left positive feedback about me as a content writer after I completed all the milestones on our contract. I had written content for the website of a glass and metal manufacturing company.

When I read the feedback, I was initially stunned and overwhelmed, realizing that my writing had helped their website attract more traffic and generate leads.

2. I received 2 job offers on hourly contracts.

I work full-time as a plant accountant for a private company, so I did not pursue hourly contracts on Upwork. I am more focused on fixed-price projects, as they will give me more flexible working time with no tight deadlines.

However, when I received a job offer for hourly contracts, I wanted to figure out how much I could manage my time. In the initial negotiations, I mentioned that I could only commit to 15 hours a week, and both clients agreed.

3. I am continuously working with my client since 2023.

Not all Upwork freelancers get a chance to successfully close a contract or keep a long-term client. With the growing number of freelancers joining the platform, it's tough competition to get the job offer posted. I am one of those who have been working with a client for years.

One of the achievements I am proud of as an Upwork talent is that I still get to work with my client since 2023. It has now been almost two years, and we are still doing well in our collaboration.

Overall, I can confidently say that I’ve made progress along the way. Even though I didn’t set many goals last year, I still managed to accomplish something.

For 2025, my focus will be on upskilling and expanding the audience of my blogs. I’ve outlined a list of goals I want to achieve as a content writer, and I’m determined to work hard to reach them.
