I have been working as a Plant Accountant for more than 6 months already - and that only means that I passed the probationary period and now a regular employee of our company. Honestly speaking, the experience is a mix of a challenge and learnings. It is not easy, but my goal of gaining knowledge makes everything bearable.
I started as a blank slate when I was hired as an accountant. And when I was introduced to the workload, it was overwhelming at first but I got used to it, and even learned a lot on how to work smooth and light - without so much stress and pressure. I go to work to the office at 8:00 in the morning and go home around 5:30. It was a 9-hour duty, and once I got home, I will then work for my clients as a freelance content writer. And sometimes it takes me about 3 hours of working late at night. And during the break times at work, I spend a few minutes on polishing and finalizing my contents, or if a client asked for a minimal revision.
I bring my laptop with me at the office everyday, so I can answer to my clients' queries and messages. It is allowed at my job as long as I am already done with the financial reports needed for the day. Trust me, time management gets exhausting sometimes too. There are moments when I want to do nothing the whole day, but there are days when productivity hits my nerve a hundred percent.
All these hustles are worth it, I know it for sure because I am seeing progress and growth on my career at the corporate world and the freelancing world. It may be tiring and draining at some points in my life, but I know how to get myself together again.
I get to train myself into being good at time management.
Imagine working for hours in an office, doing bank reconciliations and accomplishing financial reports, then going home with some workloads in a different world? But I am grateful that I get to train myself of how to manage my time to finish all of these tasks and responsibilities.
Learning more about Accounting
As an accountant, it is important to learn about all the accounting principles. And that is what I am gaining recently. Knowledge is power, and no one can take it away from you, so I always make sure to explore more and dive deeper into accounting that I may use on my future career - as I am looking forward on stepping up with my career soon enough.
Being good at working under pressure.
It's true, and not everyone has this. Despite the tight deadlines on a bunch of workloads, I still manage to accomplish all of it one at a time. I am not good at multi-tasking, but I work better when I am under pressure or I know that I need to finish a particular task or project on a ticking time bomb - which I know is my strength.
I still has a lot to prove, and I am not even halfway to it. But I know that progress and growth are happening.
