What Happened?
In case you've been offline for the last month, in that time Steemit Inc. was sold to TRON, tons of weird and contradictory news was released by TRON, our community witnesses put in SF 0.22.2 in an attempt to stop a hostile takeover, TRON got 3 exchanges (Huobi, Poloniex, Binance) to help them commit a hostile take-over anyway, the community "got out the vote" more than ever to stop Tron's consensus, and now we've been at something of a stand-still for almost 2 weeks.
So, Steem's dead... Now What?
announced a hard-fork to a new blockchain, called Hive. This new chain will be a true hard-fork, meaning everyone on Steem will have the same account, keys, and balances (as of the snapshot at launch [10am EST, Friday, March 20th]), except for the Steemit Inc. Hive has the full support of dozens of devs, witnesses, and the vast majority of the Steem community. I'm pretty sure that this new, more decentralized, more community-centric version of our chain will also lead to the return of thousands of folks who we haven't seen around recently. Combine that with the all-time high of media coverage we have thanks to the attack by TRON, and we are looking to be in excellent shape folks!
My Plan
Personally, I am extremely excited about this move, and think it couldn't have happened at a better time (except maybe sometime in the past haha.) I've got a pretty simple, but very specific plan for what I will be doing once the fork happens:
- I have started power-downs, and will be selling off 100% of my Steemitron coins over the next 13 weeks. Depending on price differences, I may use these funds to buy more Hive and/or other cryptos during this nCoV fire-sale.
- I will be editing all of my posts on the Steemitron blockchain, removing all content, and replacing them all with a short statement about the hostile take-over, the fork, and a link to my blog on @HiveIO.
- I will be continuing to share my adventures, thoughts, challenges, and life with my community and the world, via the Hive blockchain.
- I will be continuing the @TribeSteemUp project (though obviously with a new name), as well as the variety of other projects, contests, and programs I've created & supported during my time on Steem.
- I will be getting back to my 2016-17 levels of promotion & recruitment, with the goal of bringing back my 200+ friends who joined Steem and went dormant, as well as many new bees for the Hive.

I'm feeling a lot of gratitude and respect for so many in our community, who have basically dedicated the last month of their lives to protecting our digital home, and creating this exit strategy for us.

I'm with you on the powering down, see on the Hive, i think it sounds more natural with a 'the' in front of it!
True, The Hive does sound better than just Hive.
Does that mean we're all bees or drones now instead of steemians? Or are we Hivians? Hivers? Gonna be interesting to see what our new "nationality" is called :-)
I'm definitely not looking forward to the time it will take to update all my posts, but I also don't want my content being on a centralized, Chinese database. Plus, the only actual value of steemit.com is our content, the SEO that generates, etc. Every piece of content that gets pulled off their chain will decrease it's value just a little bit more.

I've noticed over the last few months I've barely been getting any votes from my posts despite being a member of @TribeSteemup and was wondering if this would be resolved from the Fork or if there's anything I can do to address this. I would really appreciate any feedback or assistance you can give me Kenny.

You were removed from the auto-voter after many people across the Steem community brought to my attention that you were receiving our votes for plagiarized memes & images, without any content added to them.
I was always a big fan of your work, but the TSU stake is only used to support original content, besides the genre & quality standards.
If you're gonna edit your posts, why not just add a header with, "Find me on Hive now!" Above the original content?

Im really excited to read about this. Its a wonderful development to help secure the decentralised aspect of the chain. Way to lock out the steemit accts too. Wondering about two things if anyone has heard (i dont have a lot of online time for this kind of research): Steem Basic Income.. @sbi Will they be migrating to hive? Also Appics what are they doing? I dont trust the tronscape at all so would rather not use it. Any news or links would be much appreciated. I really Love the nane too. Hive fits well
I haven't talked to the SBI folks, but I would assume so. Could always go check out their discord and see how the conversation is going.
No idea on appics either, I've never used it or followed them.
At the moment, the ONLY non-TRON frontend or dApp I've heard about that wasn't going to make the switch is steemworld.

BTW as you were talking about having a new name for your project. Can you give me an idea of how to migrate the account with a new user name? As you can see my user name, it's really awkward!
No way to change the name on an account, you would just have to make a new account.

Let's get @r0nd0n in the Hive Witness top 20. The only one of the group you mentioned who did not sell out on their ideals to install 22.2; as well as @timcliff the only pre-22.2 witness not to install that version. (Not sure if @minnowsupport even had a witness node)
Call it a freeze or precaution or whatever the hell you want... it broke the trust of the chain by restricting account options from targeted accounts instead of seeking a universal solution and achieved a fat nothing with 22.5 undoing its restrictions.
This chain fork was always the real ultimatum which could have been delivered to Mr. Sun. With such an ultimatum Mr. Sun may have seen the error of his ways and the STEEM blockchain may not have begun descending into shards of itself.
Interesting. I'm on the other side personally, timcliff was the only witness who didn't support 0.22.2 that kept my vote.
I believe that was the correct move, in response to everything that had been said & published by Justin & Tron to that point. The fact that his response was to bring in custodial funds and hostile take-over our governance after saying he wanted to talk and setting up a meeting, makes it clear that JS is a bad actor, and we were correct to treat him as such.
Not sure what you're talking about here? The community is more active & connected than at literally any point in the 4 years we've been here, and this HF was long-needed. I'm just glad this ridiculous situation was finally the kick in the butt that the Steem community needed to make the move.
