We just lost our second cat to old age cancer so we only have one cat now, but we foster pretty much year round so there’s always a pile of kittens in our foster room.

We are dreading the loss of our oldest cat, we know it's coming though so spend as much time with him as we can..he's losing so much weight now though and is quite frail. It's a bit sad. Losing pets is terrible.
It’s terrible. We knew it was time so we felt ok. He was losing weight for about 5 months and we got him back up by feeding high High calorie wet food 2 to 3 times a day. We were rotating on and off with steroids and antibiotics. I came to a point where he started losing again and x-rays showed the cancer is pretty advanced. He was not acting himself in the morning and we decided we didn’t wanna watch him struggle.
I believe we are at a point where we may need to consider the vet. He is showing no signs of pain or discomfort, but then cats often do not. I noticed last night that he didn't seem as keen on his food as soon as I had it down; He ate it over the course of the evening, but it's not like him to not pounce on it. we spend so much time with the cats that we see any little change from the norm. It's all a bit sad really, although I think we might need to consider a check up to see what's going on.
It’s always good to go to the vet when you suspect something. We will be thinking of you I know it’s hard...
We are a little concerned about him fretting too much as the vet isn't his favourite place. We don't want to stress him needlessly. He seems comfortable enough and report any changes to a family member who is a veterinarian nurse. If he was in obvious pain we would do something about it as we would not want him to suffer.
That’s also good. I’m spoiled because my wife is a vet tech so we do the same.
Lucky you. My family member is long way from here so we send images. We are always diligent with our cats though and are not afraid to pay for vets. They mean more to us than most people do. Just being honest.
