This is an advanced skill and we always suggest starting with just the barbell. It is awkward and uncomfortable however extremely effective. You will need a bench to put your shoulders on so you can build the bridge as well as a barbell pad or towel to soften the downward pressure on your hips. Key here is to squeeze hard at the top. If this is too daunting, start with a small step on the floor or simply do the glute bridge directly from the floor.
