The entire security apparatus of the communist regime fights the Corona Virus in a typically Chinese manner, according to the motto: "Quarantine, Version 2.0". Since Mao's revolution and the establishment of the dictatorship of the proletariat, loyal party employees have been watching over the people in every street, in every house and in every district: They observe, control and report to the top. In the virus crisis, these local party soldiers are now responsible for the new and stricter rules for containing the epidemic every day. ARTE reporter Sebastien Le Belzic, who has been working in Beijing for 15 years, is living in custody with his family these days, like the majority of the Chinese. The only way to escape this inner exile are the social networks, in which brave bloggers still dare to inform the Chinese - not always in line with the party - and therefore they risk a lot: Because there is a virus, the the party fears more than anyone else, namely that of freedom.
