Random Spiel, Content Value on other Social Media

Imagine seeing videos from YouTube or Facebook posts getting a lot of views/engagement then there's a monetary value attached to the content just to show how much the content owner for that piece. We know big channels and content creators tend to be discreet about what they make because it may attract unwanted clout.

On Hive, you can't really hide the pending payouts per content posted which makes the monetary value for the content a source of dispute. Let me ask you, if you saw a video on Youtube or X post you like to engage in, is the amount of money that goes to the creator for that content the first thing that comes into your mind? probably not, it's probably how much that content is worth to you that matters.

But on Hive, because the monetary value is highlighted and we can check how much people make per post, the mindset about being careful who you reward and how much becomes a prevalent them. Ideas about stake and what they do with their earnings get thrown in how you evaluate users. You don't pay attention to those details when you're engaging with content on other social media even if your small fraction of a click contributes 0.0000000001 $ cents on that author's payroll. It's just here.

You probably encountered a lot of spam and shitpost content on other platforms paid more than the highest valued posts we have on Hive trending.

That's probably why being transparent about how much the author actually makes on their content on other social media sites aren't a thing due to how this added detail can elicit drama. Because that would mean less about the content and more about people being conscious about the monetary value generated by the content versus the perceived consensus of the content's value.

Cat memes are fun. Cats a cute. Share this picture, get a ton of engagements, stack those ad revenue.

Where exactly am I getting at with this train of thought?

Nowhere, it's just my random musings after reflecting on how much I wasted a lot of time being too critical at curating posts. The stuff we post on Hive aren't that different from the social stuff posted elsewhere. I still believe the community should have a healthy balance on how it wants to reward trash content vs being too neurotic on average socmed posts.

Thanks for your time.

It's okay to be too critical sometimes, it balances out all the other times where you're throwing around upvotes like candy.

Or maybe that's just a me problem.

Professional growth is one of the reasons why I am still on Hive; regardless of how much I earn in this platform. I have my bread and butter, anyway. Always thankful for being part of this amazing platform. I like how you expound well your views between the contents that can be seen in FB etc vs Hive. It makes sense.
