Random Spiel, Raising the Bar for Creative Human Expressions

When did the expression of humanity became a contest rather than something we can embrace doing freely without scrutiny?

To perform, write, and just doing any form of art for the sake of doing it, when did doing these things make us worry that other people will see and get disapproving gazes?

Because at some point, the bar has been raised for doing what is a natural expression and people get paid more if they sang it better and more people are drawn to who expresses the art form better.

I look at kids doing their dances, crayon drawings, and sing off key. They seem to be having a hell lot of fun compared to when adults do the same stuff. It's just an observation when I was reviewing the concept of Play Therapy which was an entirely different subject and this post was just a side inspiration.

Back to the subject, have you ever seen someone just sing off tune and then thought of experiencing second hand embarrassment? I did. Now I don't really care if someone is so bad at dancing, drawing or singing, if they're having fun at what they do, why not?

One thing I learned about studying how to draw better is that I suck at it. I'm not fishing for compliments. I just think I need to get better even if it's already good for someone else who never picked up a pencil to draw. Because my benchmark for good got higher as I expanded what I want to know and this increase in knowledge technically didn't translate to increase in skill.

But doing art for the sake of art and scribbles led me to discover other paths to enjoy the hobby without purposively pulling hairs just to make it look good. So stop being a try hard and just enjoy the process.

Thanks for your time.

Perhaps true creativity comes when we allow ourselves to be free from these restrictions imposed on us.

We may discover that the times when we play and experiment without fear of failure are what give art its special flavor.

I believe this to be true. I believe through experience, and then I’ve witnessed various philosophies express the same.

That "stop being a try hard and enjoy the process" i needed that 🥹

It’s for sure important to try and be creative in our own ways. I know I sometimes struggle with that and get reminded of how important it is via my son!

I wanna say that marketing, production demands, money…. Capitalism are the culprits. However, sometimes the opposite seems true. Innovation and creativity can be inspired when monetary gain is a driving force. Sometimes musicality/instrumentalist technicality, and sometimes when I worked in a recording studio people demanded things I would not do. I created ways and sometimes found new shortcuts when I accepted their challenge (wanted to pay da rents) 🧟‍♂️
Sometimes just the challenge of a request is enough to inspire creativity also.

I really hope you get as good as you want and that’s why I also wanna say I think you suck also. Everything you draw looks like a cat’s butt.

Thank you for the compliments and burn. The bright side of turning the human expression into a skill based is having more creative ideas pumped as people get more incentivized to create. While it does suck that those that can't keep up with whatever standards someone else or one group has popular say over, I do think people need to look back on the roots and realize that it's fine to not be good at the craft you like.

Good evening and peace be upon you my brothers.
