When I pulled up I noticed that the gate of the shop was close but the door inside was open. There was a (presumed) homeless guy hanging around outside so maybe he had tried his luck and being shoo'ed out, I don't know, but went to the gate and the shop assistant came and opened up for me leaving it slightly ajar.
I went and got my sweeties and then heard this dude bellow out behind me
"What, like are you guys closing or something?"
I turned round and saw this massive bald guy walking in like a night club bouncer. I then saw the shop assistant almost instinctively shrink behind the counter.
If there's one thing I absolutely HATE in this world, it's a bully and this guy fit the template to a T.
While I was at the counter paying for my sugary little disks of delight, this same asshole comes alongside me and shouts at the attendant
"YOU GOT S-P-O-N-G-E-S?
this shop is so kak I can't find anything"
The attendant was clearly confused and probably a little scared because his forehead furrowed and with a small voice said "Sponges?" His first language isn't English so I tried to help him by saying with a smile "For cleaning, washing plates, you know?" with a circular motion showing him a cleaning action.
I think this poor guy was so intimidated by this dickhead that he kinda went blank. I then had a look over at the aisle in line with the till point and saw something yellow and green so I pointed to the burly oke "oh, look, I can see them over there".
The guy at the till quietly said "Tanks" and finished processing my purchase.
I decided I wasn't going to leave this guy here to be a bully so when he came up to the till with his S-P-O-N-G-E-S I plucked one right out of his hand and said "Oh these are bigger than the standard ones, what are you using them for?" He went on to tell me about the house renovation that he's busy with and I ushered the purchase along, not moving from my spot directly opposite the shop assistant.
Then I started asking this big bloke annoying questions about how the sponges work and what effect he's using them for. Whitewashing apparently. Once he had got his slip in hand, I then placed his S-P-O-N-G-E back into it and bid him farewell and best of luck with his renovation, still not leaving my spot with my elbow on the counter.
He walked out and I then took my fruit pastilles from the counter and thanked the shop assistant with a smile. His whole face brightened up and I could see he was so relieved that the fucktard had left with no incident.
What really infuriates me about people like that is that they seem to do it on purpose with someone that they deem "weaker" and the entitled attitude grates the living shit out of me. I wasn't even remotely intimidated by Rugby Quarterback Jack who changed his demeanour entirely while talking to me, but was quite happy to bark at the shop attendant. What a fucking jerk. It never ceases to amaze me how some people are just downright assholes for no good reason. I hope he enjoys his S-P-O-N-G-E-S because it's probably the only company he keeps.
When last have you dealt with a bully?
Image is my own
Seems like you had it all covered. But, did he have one of those dual tone shirts on? The big dude? 😁
Lol I don't condone violence unless it's in self defense and his bullshit attitude was directed at the other guy.
I get your point though.
No dual-toned shirts although, he seems like the type now that you mention it.
Yeah, working in retail will make you hate the human race. I have a couple of stories about those types
Hey @nikv
Thanks for coming by, yes I worked in retail for a long time, so we could probably share stories for hours.
It's not cool especially when entirely unprovoked and unnecessary like this was.
Some people suck, most people suck a lot I agree.

Andy to the rescue. Interesting tactics to deal with bullies. I bet the guy looked like a deer dazed by car lights.
Shame, I felt really bad for him because I've been bullied and that fear response was written all over his face.
I could see how relieved he was once the guy had left. I just don't get why people have to be like that. Unwarranted.
Anyway, have a good one Andrés.
Well, I was talking about the bully. Once you set your foot down with bullies their facade usually shatters to smithereens. Good thing you were there to help on this one.
Hope you're having a great day, Andy.
Lol oh ok I get what you mean now hahaha, sorry, I'm not that bright 😁
Ha, ha, ha. Oh, my... Post like those and doesn't think herself bright? Where does that leave me? 😂😅
I can imagine his bulky figure and distorted voice shouted S-P-O-N-G-E-S. I hate bullies and I once had one in school who slapped me cos I was helping out his girl when they were quarreling. Funny enough, I ran into him in public transport recently and he didn't recognize me.
I swore that day that if anyone tries that rubbish with me again I'd fucking hurt him badly
Hi @diikaan
Really, you saw him? Wouldn't have been the right thing to return that slap on public transport but it probably made you think quite a bit about it.
Bullying is so wrong and I think that we all need to stand up to them because they can do so much damage.
I just couldn't believe the audacity of that guy shouting across me at the shopkeeper.
Thanks for stopping by and reading my post. Have a good day.
Of course I saw the idiot. But there was no need to retaliate.
Bulling is very wrong I don't wish anybody to be the victim of that
All year!
What I find interesting these days is if you straight up call a bully, a bully, or say you're being bullied, they see that as some kind of weakness; as if you're supposed to sit there and take it. They'll just double down not realizing the jig's up, applying their pressure, that's become ineffective. "Oh you poor thing. You think you're being bullied! Awe!" All they're doing is ratting themselves out at that point, and it's fucking hilarious.
Yes, well that's societal conditioning for you, people being bullied...being bullied more for speaking up about being bullied. Go figure.
Just this past week I had my fill of someone who's always come around to drag me down. Four days straight of telling someone to leave before they finally left. Four days...
Didn't feel good but I won't have that problem again. It's really no different than that type you described in the post. Probably thought me asking them to leave was that sign of weakness they prey upon and was getting a thrill before it finally backfired.
I've run out of patience for those types though and won't give them any space to work with. Same thing in life. I push them out. Of course in their mind that makes me the bad person but sometimes you gotta be bad.

Thank you for standing up to that bully, @andrastia!
Annabelle 😊
I'm glad you were able to prevent an incident. That type should be banned by each place they try it...
