Wandering Words: Is it possible for users to be noticed again after leaving for a long time?

Seriously, how does the algorithm of Hive work? Or does it have an algorithm just like Web 2.0 platforms?

I came to this idea after thinking: If a person is not active on Hive, then they decided to be active again, is it possible that people will still notice and upvote them?

One mistake that I made was not being active when I joined Hive. Though I cannot fully blame myself for my actions, I just feel that many users are becoming nothing when they stop using the platform for a while but come back.

I was a mushroom in the community. I rarely show up not because of being lazy but because I do not understand how it works before.

Resource credits? I didn’t know about it before, one day I just can’t comment or make an activity. So, I left.

After learning more about it after 3 months of not being active, I came back. But people do not notice my work. I am not even sure if someone is reading it.

The community is very saturated. Small users are seeking attention and have only one goal: To get an upvote from whales.

I would be lying if I did not dream of getting upvotes from big users, but my goal on Hive is not only to milk the platform; but to write, get rewarded, cash out, and withdraw.

My main goal is different: Write, get rewarded, and increase my Hive power. For some reason, I want to increase my Hive power and do not have the mindset of withdrawing anything for now.

I see this community as a long-term investment while building a new hobby of writing. Interaction with other users from different places is also one goal.

Sometimes, I feel discouraged from writing content because I only get an upvote from the Hive PH community bot which is also not an organic upvote and is triggered with a bot.

I do not really have the foundation on my account. I did not build my account in the early days when I joined. My Hive staked are from my own pocket, 10-20% is probably from the rewards.

One thing that I can advise other users, especially newbies, is to ask for guidance on people who invited you to Hive. Do not just jump in because this is “easy money” because it is not.

Learn the basics at first and become consistent so you can build your reputation in the early days of your stay on Hive.

So, going back to the question, is it possible to get an eye on your work again?

I can’t say yes or no. But one thing for sure is to be consistent and always show up.

Comment and interact with other users, and make new friends regardless of their situation on the platform.

In the end, if people don’t support you, maybe you are missing something. Think back again and try another way and strategy.

My main goal right now is to increase my Hive power by at least 5,000 HP and support different projects on Hive.

I also want to be involved in different communities to get a wider audience.

But right now, I cannot invest my own money in the community. I do not still have the budget but all rewards coming into my account stay on my account as another investment.

I am always trying to show up every day and trying to be active. After 1 week, I can be active again and try to write consistently on the platform.

Disclaimer: This blog is just random thoughts for my wandering words series. If you read this until the end, then thank you. As you can see, I did not put images into it...I want it to be pure words and just share in my mind.

Sort:

I think you will get noticed again because even my presence here is inconsistent, but right now, I'm trying to be active again. And slowly I am getting noticed again. I'm hoping I could make hive a habit again like it was in my first year here. And I'm doing good so far, just not sure if I can keep this up in the next few weeks.

I'm also trying to make Hive into a habit. That's what I am doing right now:)

good luck to us then ^^ for the sake if saving again

Going 3 years of being active here. I post 15 blogs per month on average. Aside from being active, I think sticking on to a niche community or two can help you get noticed. In my case, I noticed regular upvoters when I post art stuff. There's a lot of things I noticed on how to get noticed, actually. But will take whole paragraphs here, haha.

!PIZZA

So it's niche-based after all. I want to share travels since ayun napapansin ko madalas magkaron ng audience. Kaso bihira naman ako magtravel hahaha.

But will take whole paragraphs here, haha.

That's a good topic to write, maybe you can share!

Pasingit lang, hahaha. Yes, I’ve also noticed that having a niche makes it easier to get noticed. It’s fine to post random content if you’re part of the retention program of OCD or if you already have a big influence (Hive power) here in Hive. Sisipagan nalang dintalaga sa pangungulit sa ibang user to get notice

Hahaha I want to write just random thoughts talaga, but I think yeah it should be niche-based. Ano niche and madalas mo talagang isulat?

Niche ko talaga magreklamo, eme HAHAHA. If ever, gusto kong maging niche yung web development, travel, and life lesson/self-reflections. For now, di ko pa kaya yung web development at travel. Yung sharing ng wisdoms eme eme nasisimulan ko naman kahit papaano.

Gustong gusto ko yung mga informative blogs mo. Sana ituloy mo

sharing ng wisdoms

Saang community ka madalas when it comes to this topic?

Gustong gusto ko yung mga informative blogs mo.

Like what? Hahaha

Sa thoughtfuldailypost pag mga mga wisdoms emerut hahaha.

Gusto ko yung mga post mo about finance pati yung sa pagiging SEO mo

You can still get noticed by people and even outside, if your SEO is good, your article gets views. A lot of my older works are often the top visited and got unique visitors.

Oh that's nice. I am also practicing SEO with my blogs. Thanks for visiting, mac!

The platform has a small userbase and if you're good at making the decent content, you'll eventually get noticed by just being consistently present on someone's feed or a curator's community page. The hill that users who went inactive then deciding to comeback is consistency and the finding that drive to start again after losing the visibility progress. If social rewards were the primary objective and only metric you work on, expect that you're standing on fragile ground because low payouts = poor performance when most of the curation works here aren't even about how good the post is.

when most of the curation works here aren't even about how good the post is.

Haha yeah. I even saw some posts that are less than 200 words and just a repeated content but getting a lot of rewards.

Anyway, I'm just trying to be consistent again. Not minding the rewards a lot, but wants to increase my HP.

I don't think there is an algorithm like Web 2.0. Our version of going viral is just being stumbled upon by someone behind a curation bot.

Having high HP helps though, a lot of people will up vote whales just in the hopes it gets them noticed.

Having high HP helps though

Yep i think so. I'm getting there, i also want to support small users. But what I can do if I, myself, is also a small user. Just trying to be fun now.

Ofc you can regain attention. Its not easy, but my advice is threads. People there are more engaged than the rest of Hive imho.

I'm being active on threads, but I think it's also the place where you only have a short-span of getting attention.

I find it helpful, but I think some people there doesn't really read blogs that much...just focusing on short-form content.

I think the importance is consistency. For example I post once per day and schedule it for the same time every single day. This helps give people who like to visit my posts a way to know that every day, at 0130 UTC my post will go up and I think this helps quite a bit.

The other thing too is spending good time commenting on other peoples posts. It’s a good way to get yourself out there and eventually friendships form and it can lead to more support.

thank you for this, i also want to be consistent but i am always being lazy. any tips or advice?
