RE: Hive Is Not Democracy, But... .:. Late Night Blogging

in Rant, Complain, Talklast year

I think that it’s A really complicated thing. We can and should aim for more decentralization and proof of things but at the same time, we are running on a model that is a lot different than pretty much any other place on the web. We have a great system, it is indeed got its challenges but it gets a lot of things right. There are people who have bought in and invested a considerable amount of money as well as time and they want to see things for their benefit and sometimes the benefit of others.

Where it gets a little hairy with the notion you are talking on, 90 HP versus a whole lot more. For me it is quite situational dependent. I know people have their reasons but if someone is on hive here for 1+ years but only has 90 hive power give or take some. I in some ways don’t feel bad that their thoughts aren’t taken as seriously. People need to take ownership and invest their assets and that can simply be do not withdraw 99% of your assets that you acquire on here. It should be aimed at 50% or less in my opinion. If someone reinvested 50% of their earnings in the platform and earned 1,000 hive power in a year, it’s much more respectable to listen to someone standing on 500 hive power than it is if they have 50 or 75, just enough to comment and post.

Then it goes into the cumulative effect of it all - where you earn more hive power in the long run by having stake and earning curation rewards and inflation.

For a system filled on all sides with pure centralization and tyranny, we are doing pretty good here on hive!

Yes, we are doing much better than others regarding decentralization, that's for sure... Also, your objection about the bigger stake that gives more influence stands... But... Me having more stake than you doesn't mean that I'm better than you, or that you CAN'T ask me questions if I do some shady things...
I got triggered by that kind of behavior, where the person put himself over the other, trying to shut his mouth by pointing out a smaller stake...

Influence and "weight" of words said by different people is one thing, but basic rights and freedom of speech is everyone's right... As we are promoting HIVE as such, we should at least "keep our word" and prevent abuse of power...

Cheers!!
