I'm stuck in a space where I can be sitting reading a book, or I can be telling you what is happening in my life at the moment. I'd rather be telling you what is happening.
I'm kind of excited. In eleven days it's a year since I were ejected from ABC Security, so it's eleven months that I have been struggling to get my UIF money. It's not a lot but it's enough to tie me over for a month or three.
What's exciting is that I had a very promising visit to the UIF offices. The internet based services have been giving me the runaround for months. Finally they said that I am still listed on the system as employed at ABC. ABC of course denied this.
I finally decided to go to the local office.
Usually the lines at the office will be more than a hundred deep by six in the morning and by the time they open at eight, there would be more than 300 waiting to get in. I could just never get up early enough to get in to the front of the que. The back of the que never got in the door.
This time round though I got to the line at seven in the morning and were number 40 in the line. There were a very short line because of the ongoing taxi strike. The newly unemployed people did not feel like walking all the way to the office. Lucky me.
The young man who helped me said they can change my employment status and get my payout transferred in the next week pending me bringing updated paperwork. I did that the very next day. Now it feels like a miracle about to happen.
Other than that, I'm still packing paving and I don't get out much.

That’s good to see there’s a light at the end of the tunnel in that regard. It’s amusing how lazy people are and won’t walk to a place because the taxis aren’t operating.
