RE: Muting The Bots

Man I am one of those who use the bot frequently.
I tend to use not more than two command bots each time. But yeah you have some valid point because somehow the real engagement is lost somewhere in the middle of the bots auto comments.

But how does mute affect the number of comments received in one's post? does it reduce to only show non-bot comments?
! LOLZ

Let’s find out! Lol. I see you used it but I haven’t seen the comment yet from it. I wonder if it doesn’t arrive? Hard to say, this is my first time muting a bot!

I know the bots are fun for some people and a way to give to others but I think they are annoying myself hahaha. I don’t mind if someone uses it on me but I never use them myself.

I HATE bot comments! A long trail of curse words goes through my mind every time I get one...and then! I think ...

and I just go

I wish I could remember well which of my friends do not like them and which are up to... have a pizza or beer as an extra reward, sign of appreciation etc. I never had serious problems with having bots comments in the posts -- untill there are real comments. Ofc, if the only thing some folks can say is '!XXX !YYY !ZZZ' -- then its a sad thing and a bit annoying, indeed... but thats the thing about the folks, not about the bots...right?

Actually, I feel much much more disenchanted when I deal with another sort of comments, that are 'faking' the real human communication -- just like: 'Impressed with your brilliant clicks' -- being produced at a dubious rate of 5-10 comments per minute ... while reading or watching of a single post require at least decent 2-3-5 minutes...

Thats a RaNT & Complain community, right? Exactly for ranting 🤓 @cmplxty

@ekavieka, thats a good point. I guess no! all the statistics is still there. it's just that such a measure spares the human eye a little when one is going thru comment section, removing the visibility of "garbage comments", and nothing more. lol

I always enjoyed getting pizza and beer tokens from you; They made me smile because I knew that it was a real appreciation for a post. However, lately, all kinds of tokens/bot comments pop up, and some authors don't even bother to leave meaningful comments. It just looks like a shortcut and insincere action:)

'It just looks like a shortcut and insincere action' - totally agree. On this hand, on another hand... I love the pic complexity have posted there (about the devs and the user experience). The bots and the tokens itself are not evil, maybe even the implementation is not evil (idk), but lazy users cheating on their human activity, are... so... should I share more pizza with you, sometimes... in another community? I'd love to, you know. 😘

Yes, you can share your pizza with me, anytime.😘

I do not see you as someone to unintelligibly drop a token just for the sake of doing so.
I have always valued your feedback on things because you know how to analytically disagree, and you always voice constructive criticisms:)

'be constructive! with your blues....' (c)

😂😂 you must really hate them. I don't really come across much but comments yet though. But I find hivebuzz quite helpful. I can stand for hivebuzz but the rest, they can go.

I pardon hivebuzz sometimes and annoy them right back. I designed a banner, especially for hivebuzz, that I drop sometimes. 😆

Hahah yeah for sure me too! I get annoyed but then say whatever, if it’s not my community I can’t do anything about it.

yes I also understand your point. heheh
sometimes seeing that many comment from the bot can be overwhelming, drowning the actual engagement.

I wish I have more HP, so that my small vote is worth something. but so far I could only offer the token as appreciation to those who come and comment on my post or the author I support.

so far I think @pizzabot bot has done a nice thing, as they will edit the comment any time more than one person uses the command on the same post.

but so far I could only offer the token as appreciation to those who come and comment on my post or the author I support.

😅 yeah, I get that. That is why I make sure to bring my blood pressure back down when I get a bot comment.

I have no idea how the various bots/tokens work. However, I notice that they have gained popularity and I wasn't sure if some authors just saw the need to follow a trend. I understand that there's no ill intent:)

Some people are bandwagoners for sure! lol

blood pressure? oh damn.
the facts we can not change, but one always may change its interpretation.... 😏

Yeah I get the HP and vote end of it. I remember being there! Your vote now is a lot higher than most people have ever gotten on hive so keep up the good work man!

As far as I know, muting can only hide the comment from the bot, but sometimes you can see the name of the bot on the comment section I guess.
Unless it is downvoted, then it will be hidden as far as the author of the comment.

Hahaha, I was deliberately putting a space between the exclamation mark and the command.
I don't want to call the bot after knowing you are annoyed by it. : )
But it will be interesting to see how it will turn out on your side as you are the one muting the account.

Ah I was wondering why it didn’t fire. Makes sense! Lol. If you call them I won’t get mad about it, you can do what you’d like with them. I wonder if I can convince the bot owners to change their strategy a little bit. I might write another follow up post on that haha
