A close friend of mine always says lying makes you ugly as it involve you not being truthful but for some reasons I don't really think of it that way .
As we all know that lying is one of the most common activity that happens everyday of our lives it either we lie or we are been lied too , some people believe we learn to lie at our tender age while others believe it just happens naturally.

We can all agree that we've lied in one way or the other either to get what we want or to intentionally deceive someone or to protect ourselves or even to protect some one .
Growing up I lied a lot very often to avoid scolding and over time I got so used to it and did it very often even when it wasn't necessary ,I was so good at it that I will cry if you didn't believe me and sometimes I even tried to convince myself that I was saying the truth , whenever I start to cry while lying my parent will believe that I was crying out of an innocent heart and agree to the lie I tell them with time my mum began to observe me and noticed that I cried even when I was caught red handed it really bothered her that a child of such age was doing what criminals on TV do during investigations.
Most times, my siblings knew I was lying but won't tell my mum cause sometimes I'll lie on their behalf or lie to protect them from been scolded at I was litrally a lying machine .Whenever I lied for my siblings I felt I was doing the right thing cause I'll take the blame for them most times.One day I was reading on the dinning table ,at the other side was this glass jug which my mum was always strict about .While I was sitting there my sister ran into the dinning and slipped she tried to support her herself with the table but accidentally dragged the table mat with the jug on it, l instantly knew my mum will be mad at her when she returns , so when my mum came back and saw the broken jug she asked who broke it and I said I was the one knowing that she was going to flog the hell out of me, for a moment, I felt like a hero and then I got the beating of my life at that point I believe I did the right thing as the elder one .I later found out that that lie I told protect my sister was called a white lie.
People tell lies to manipulate others , to protect their self esteem and reputation some also tell lies to exaggerate and or to impress other
White Lie are told to protect someone or to avoid hurting someone the are harmless lies told to make one feel better, another instance is telling a someone you love their dress even If you don't to avoid hurting their feelings though some people still find it offensive others don't . I'll really love to know y'all think about white lies.

Lying has a spectrum for sure. Some lies are done out of compassion to protect people which could be acceptable depending on the circumstances. Other lies are just outright lies and are difficult but have their reasons as well. It’s never an easy thing and rarely as cut and dry as never lie once in your life.
