I Got A New Follower!

Yeah, just like the title says, I got a new follower today. I was pretty stoked!

So I went to check them out

You know, as you are wont to do when someone follows you. You figure that if they like your stuff enough to follow you, there's a good chance you share the same interests. At least some of them. Either way, you are curious about who would want to follow you. Right?

I can't handle the feed I have. I can't imagine the feed on over 4000 accounts. Even if only 5% are active, that's way too many posts to read.

At first, I thought, This dude's crazy if he thinks that's the way to do Hive.

But then I noticed the 209 followers. Since starting in June. I guess it does work.

Oh, but then I checked his posts and saw very little engagement. Even when people commented, he rarely responded and if he did, it was very brief.

So, to make a long story short, I decided I wasn't going to follow back.

The follow button is one that's an odd one here on Hive. In mainstream channels like Fakebook and others, it's crucial to have the most followers possible! I think here on Hive it helps to have good followers and ones that are going to be worth interacting with.

It annoys me when I see the posts with engagement on them but the person isn't responding back to any of it, or minimally! That's obnoxious and if I see that consistently, immediately unfollow! Lol. Don't put out the content if you aren't going to engage with people!

Congrats on the follower though, maybe you'll get another one :D

Hahaha, thanks. I will cherish that follower and all followers afterwards. I also wanted to thank you for your premonition of the new follower. I did get one!

As for Facebook et al, I never went in for all that bs. People doing follow for follow, etc. It's pointless and extremely fake. Twitter was the worst. I would see people following 120000 accounts. My feed was plugged after following 25 people. Nobody can make sense of the feed of 120000 people. I also saw them bragging about the 43000 followers they had but I'm betting it was some follower trading scheme or something. Anyhow, not my kettle of fish.
