Uh, oh! First Time I got Scammed for an Online Shop

I was so hyped earlier because I went online shopping for some clothes. They are usually less than 10 Euros each, so I spent 50 Euros, which I think is a great deal. I was able to check the website and it was legit.

So, here's another website for a luxury brand, and I saw that it was 80% on sale. I got lured that I didn't check the website. Ugh, this is the first time I got scammed. I added my details on PayPal because it says the website shop accepts payment with PayPal. I tried to click PayPal on the shop but not working. Until it asked me to pay with a card and it went through. So, if only I paid through PayPal, there is a chance I could get a dispute.

As usual, it's asking for OTP for the payment to go through as confirmation of the transaction. I checked on my email but I didn't receive any confirmation of the things I purchased. That's when I started to panic.

Damn! That was 83 Euros. I lost my 83 Euros in just one click. I am not sure if I should tell my husband about this. But he also experienced getting scammed by a different online shop last 2 Christmases ago. And my MIL got scammed last Christmas, as well.

I'm using Gcash and regret not using Ginsured or insurance to protect my buying experience from fraud. That's when I realized I was not meant to own a luxury brand.

Deep sigh. I should have SIGNED UP first or created an account. Too late. Well, with the first website, I didn't create an account. I just paid directly and received an e-mail confirmation that they will send my purchases in the next few days or maybe next week. But on this fraud site, I didn't get any confirmation email. Damn. I am so stupid. 83 Euros is a big or in PHP I lost 5,000 Philippine Pesos already.

I reported it to the help center of Gcash in the PH since I am using this card to make a transaction for a fake EU online shop. I am not sure if I will get my money back. This is an expensive lesson I need to learn.

A consolation for me, well, I know that I will earn that money in different ways (in a good way) but sad to say I won't get that money back. Well, I just need to accept that this is the first time I got scammed online here in France. Yeah, it's my fault. I hope I can recover emotionally.

Have you experienced being scammed? How did you deal with it?

Sort:

You can call your bank directly and tell them. Show them evidence then they may be able to get back your money.

I sent a report to Gcash help center but not calling them. I am not sure if I can have my money back.

I feel you sis, na scam na din ako ahahha nakaka inis diba? Pero I think karma na lang ang babalik sa kanila.

Walang konsensya yan sila teh. At least $70 Yong amount vinivictim nila each person.

Grabiii, karma na lang balik sa kanila sis. Ako din na scam pina blotter ko nga.

Within PH sayo ang scammer?

that is a lot of money to be lost, it's why I don't really shop in random websites, they can be tricky 😄I hope you can resolve that dispute and get the money back

It's my fault why I got excited and didn't check the whole website. I was focused on the price. 😞

I am so sorry that happened to you 😔 but look at the bright side. You learned you don't need expensive brands anymore. Those brands are the real ripoff's. We can live without them. That is going to save you a lot of money in the future.

Yeah, I found another legit website, not branded but the online shop has pick up locations around France. It's not as pricy but happy to purchase a cute handbag.

How did this go xanne?

Ni respond si gcash but not sure sa refund. Lesson learned na lang gyud nako sya.

smh 😔 charge to experience nalang jud yot... For gCash they won't be able to do a refund most likely but maybe try to ask them "how can I file a chargeback" since this has the most recommended course of action for things like this. I believe our bank can file a chargeback to their bank on our behalf

Thanks yot. Ako ni itry. :) 😀

Ah that’s a tough lesson but thankfully it wasn’t more like thousands! The best teachers are the painful ones sadly.
