The money is a great carrot on a stick to get peoples attention, it got my attention.
I found Hive by chance, I watched a video where someone was talking about blogging sites you can earn money by posting, and the one they spoke of was the legacy chain. I went there, made an account, posted a couple times and nothing happened, so went to Reddit to find out what I was doing wrong and heard that everyone went to Hive, so I came over here, made an account and wrote a post, I'm pretty sure it was about Halo: Infinite, got tons of engagement and met a lot of helpful people, was told to make an indroduction post, did, met way more people and was invited to a bunch of Discord servers and was overwhelmed with how sound everyone was.
During a chat on Discord I was told the best quote and something that has always summed Hive up the best. "Came for the money, stayed for the community."
After a couple of weeks I started writing fiction (something I never shared publicly) after I started posting stories I got a lot of pointers and tips from other writers and in the last year and a half my confidence in my writing has grown, as has my experience.
I wrote and posted novel on Hive since being here, which I'm editing and getting ready to self publish, and I'll be crediting Hive in that when I do.
I think there are so many writers out there, like me, writing stuff to sit on the desktop gathering digital dust, when they could be here, sharing their stories, talking with other writers, growing, and earning a few bob for doing so. All wins.
That's a great story in just a short comment! I didn't check your novel, but I will have to take a look at your story... I bet it's great and I wish you all the luck when you self-publish it!
Everyone has a story... Maybe from real life, maybe fictional, but a lot of them have some value... not just for the authors, but also for potential audiences... So, why not share it and help others? You never know to whom it will be as a "so-needed word" to read! And the engagement thing is another huge level... True two-way communication is a thing that I saw only here on this blockchain... I learned so many things from others and I hope that some learned from my stuff too (learning from my mistakes also counts 😂...)...
Hahah mistakes are the best teacher. I spent way too much on Cardano and just watched at it as it dropped, shameful. I wish I was on Hive when I was buying, I squandered my investment fund, but YOLO, still hodling, so technically haven't lost anything.
Thanks so much, it's science fiction, and I had a lot of fun writing it. All my stories are sci-fi, set in a world I've been building for a couple of years, so much has been added to it thanks to the world building community here.
