I think Christmas is a really hard time for single moms. I remember a few Christmas's where my mom wrapped up cereal boxes and other food items just so we had something to open for Christmas that year. Christmas is whatever you make it and I do think that the family aspect of it is the most important thing.
That cake is amazing looking and the tree is impressive. I like the eclectic ornaments.

Cheers buddy and the same back! We've picked up odd ornaments all over the place, @iaura is the tree gestapo. She hasn't let me touch the tree since I used Optimus prime as the tree topper a few years ago.
