Everything was last minute.
Or maybe it wasn’t.
Last week, I already asked my mom what she wanted to do for her birthday. I asked her if she wanted to travel somewhere, maybe Bali or Lombok. She declined saying that she could only get a day off work and it would be quite impossible to pull off such a trip. So, she just wanted a nice dinner somewhere around town. Unfortunately, none of these happened. I got sick two days before her birthday and during her birthday, she’s starting to feel light-headed too. Now everyone at home is sick, including my grandma.
It’s sick season and omicron is partly to blame. On my way when I went to the doctor, my driver told me that his wife got sick too. She had symptoms like cough, sneeze and low grade fever. And told me that every doctor in town is full and difficult to make an appointment. I experienced the same thing. I got rejected the first day of making an appointment as the quota was already full. So, Ray registered me the next day and he showed up early. I managed to secure an appointment and eventually was prescribed some medications. This all happened the day before my mom’s birthday.
Unlike what most sick people do, I like to keep myself active and moving. I get bored just by sleeping, reading, and watching movies. Even when I have a little energy, I try my best to function like I normally would. I have this mentality that unless I am brain dead and bed-ridden, I have to still try to function like I have to/supposed to.
Anyway,I usually like to buy a birthday cake early or the next day by going to the store. But that day, I just ordered a tiramisu cake from GRAB food.It was one of the best looking cakes around the list of bakeries in town. I got one and it came with the candles and the knife.
I waited until my mom came back from buying lunch and that’s when I sang happy birthday with my raspy voice. Ray was there too celebrating with us. My mom made some wishes that later told me, she wanted food that could heal her heartache. I told her that it would be chocolate and some beer. Then, she laughed.
We didn’t do anything else because I am still isolating myself. I do not want to spread my cough and flu to others. But that day, eventually my mom caught it too. She felt light headed, starting to sneeze and coughing. She also got low grade fever.
I really wanted to test myself but my mom told me not to. There are some reasons as to why she told me not to. The first reason was that our house could be isolated and monitored by the local government if we are found to be positive with covid-19. Nobody in the house can leave it and that means, nobody can go to work. Even my mom’s workplace will be closed for a day to have it sanitized. She told me all of this because it happened with her colleague who tested positive. It’s wild how the measures are done. I don’t think it really works that way in another country.
I wish that this year she would have more luck.
She could finally move on and start a new life.
I don't mind having a new dad 😂 that would add some more dads into the list 🤣
I wish her more health too so that she could travel around with me.
Happy birthday mom!

Happy Birthday !
I am tired of the control measures. We are in the fifth wave of the pandemic and already know the impacts. We have our population vaccinated. I have a booster dose. But then the measures are so slow to get updated. Tired.
Anyway, take care and get well soon.
Thank you so much @rmsadkri. We both have vaccinated, no booster yet. I suppose we are all fairly tired with the measures. Even now, there's on going restriction enforcement since omicron is on the rise again. My mom is also reluctant to visit doctor but I'll probably try to do the online medical assistance for her. It's way convenient and lesser risk than going on site and be around sick people.
Feel better soon. Yes the issues around work and covid are real, I also didn't test when I was sick although at least our country has lifted most work regulations because it is ruining the economy
Thank you. The crazy part about Indonesia is that though covid is ruining the economy, they are spending billions on a mega project to move its capital. It's really sick. At the moment, there's even on going movement restriction again despite it was lifted a few months ago. While at the same time, I heard in another country they already lifted the mandatory mask and other restrictions. But here, it seems to be back with 0 again and no fixed resolution. Kinda tired about this whole thing but that's the way it is. Thanks for checking up! stay safe and be well.
Covid has really shown how awful and corrupt the world's governments are
Wow, I hope you get better! This virus is crazy. I'm glad that you and your mother could find a bit of cheer in all the madness.
We did, everyone is really sick now and I am pulling my hair having to take care of my mom along with my grandma 😅 since I am also sick. I hope the sick season passes soon and we all get into normal.
This viral wave is finally subsiding around these parts, but who knows what other flu bugs are going around, so it's not all covid. Hopefully, it's just a normal flu that got you. Get well soon!
Happy birthday to Mama
And I wish her dreams come through
And also wish you all the best in health
Keep up your write
It's always beautiful to read
@khingstan Cares 🤴✌️
Thank you so much @khingstan. I'll pass it on to my mom. Have a great day!
You are very much welcome 😇😇
Happy Birthday to your mom, and stay healthy, get well soon! The cake looks very appetizing. 🌺
Though the cake was last minute, I managed to find a good one. I'll pass it on to her and thank you so much for the wishes and the encouragement 😊
Hopefully you are not having omicron but just ordinary flu.
I think you better not to do the COVID test as long as you don't have a serious symptom, the psychological pressure somehow offer more damage to our body than the virus itself.
Anyway, wish you get well very soon
Yeah, the psychological pressure is real. It's like being shunned when you catch it around here. My sister who lives in another town tested positive and is self-isolating. I hope she's fine there. I have a little worry about being home but others, they have to work and go to school 😅 so that was my consideration.
I have suspicion that I actually infected as well, I got a super bad headache and dizzy last week, my blood pressure went a bit high, but now everything back to normal, just still have some headache sometime but it's not as worse as I did last week.
If you sister has done for 2 or 3 dose vaccines that should be ok, she should have protection, no worry
Yeah, most of us are vaccinated at least twice. There are still people who aren't even vaccinated to this day, like my grandma due to her comorbidity. But I hope everyone is safe! you too. Have a great day.
Had Omicron too, it was not a good feeling at all. Felt restless, headache every often, and cough and cold. But all is good now. It's just that it's a pain in the a**.
It seems that omicron has similar symptoms like common cold. I don't get the headache just low grade fever. Now my mom has the high grade fever and I asked her to go to doctor but declined. How long did it take you to recover?
It took me 5 days. What I did is I did the steam, boil water with salt and inhale the heat and cover myself with a blanket. I did it 2 or 3 times a day. It did help me a lot.
Thank you for the tips. We did it yesterday but I should do it again now and offline from hive in a bit 😂
Hahaha please get some rest. More fruits and sleep. I did take melatonin it helps me sleep. 😊
We only have one body and we need to have at least 1-day full rest.
Happy birthday to your mum! That's a lovely cake there. I hope your wishes for her come true and that you all will have good health.
It’s tough to get sick but if you and your family did catch Omi then you’re actually in a very good place. Natural immunity is awesome! It has been shown to seriously prevent future infections and even when there’s more mutations, it’s similar a lot of times to what you got natural immunity for.
Getting sick is never fun but especially not on someone’s birthday! My wife was sick on her birthday this year, it’s just that time of year I guess!
Hope everyone gets better soon if they haven’t already!
By now, I think everyone should have that natural immunity to the virus. And these draconian laws on movement restriction and what not should be lifted. Almost everyone I talk to are sick, so it's really that time of the year where everyone just gets sick out of nowhere :D and I hope you and your family are safe and healthy!
