These days with the writing contest is rolling out, sorry if random content pops out on your feed. I want to showcase some Indonesian newbie to professional journalist of their works. I also help them with account creation and basically introducing to them what Hive is and how they can use this space as a new ground and space to learn and get creative.
In today's coffee post, I just want to talk about why I only started now. I think there are a few factors I've been considering all these years. First,market adaptability, second crowd perception, third, ease of use, fourth, personal reasons.
If I were to introduce hive 4-5 years ago, this whole concept is still challenging to grasps. While crypto were starting to get mainstream, there are some problems with the space that it was all grey. Nowadays with more younger crowd and massive digitization, it's a lot easier to introduce cryptocurrency. It is easier to explain crypto and when it's easier to explain what blockchain is to people, we just remove half of the crypto adoption.
If I were to introduce hive 4-5 years ago, the signing up process, the tools aren't as easier to use as today. Today everything is pretty seamless and Hive keychain is also on mobile. With these things in hands, it was also another easy factor to introduce hive to the crowd.
But most importantly, 4-5 years ago, I was still some kid. I was like 22 years old kid trying to figure life out. I wasn't so mature and had a lot going on at the time. Today, consider me an adult and I am financially more sound. Organizing event isn't cheap and despite that I get support, there are some costs that might occur. Today, I felt more confident of bearing some responsibility of these
costs.
I don't want to organize just regular events like some type of cafe meetups where all you do is sit eat and listen to some presentation. It looks fun though but I want to target the right people and audience.
I have this mentality, go big or go home. So, it's why I was willing to do it now and wait for years when I am a little older, have more energy and if any extra expenses occur, I can cover for it and it won't be such a big deal. I understand what it took to grow something, my upbringing basically taught me all about it. If it were 22 years old me, I am sure if anything happened, I couldn't even cover for it nor even think through it all. So, it was for the best that I waited and I am happy for it.
Somehow the universe conspire because just in time when I need something new, I was presented with connections and opportunities that led to what I am currently doing today. It won't stop here for sure because I always think the real challenge is retention and keeping people on the platfrom. Signing up, creating big userbase is half of the challenge but the real thing that needs to be conquered is retention and participation.
So finger crossed and hopefully, something can be learned from this.

Retaining new people on Hive is very difficult. But perhaps those who remain will say thank you many years later.
