Farce of An Interview: Accent@#&

Accenture was doing a one day hiring. They were looking for Content Writer Analysts. Here is what it says on their posting.

I have like solid three years content writing experience, with the guy I am writing for also works for Accenture now.

I don't mind really if they didn't reply at all but I got an email saying "After reviewing your form answers, we're pleased to confirm that you passed the minimum requirement for the position, and we’ve secured a spot just for you!"

Okay then, if they say so. So I got there, spent some money on gasoline and food. The interview site is quite far from my place. I dressed really well. I even had a haircut.

Holding on to that they reviewed my form initially already, was just expecting like a guy from HR would take me to a room and further pry out my experiences. I was expecting questions how advanced I am with chatgpt or other AI stuff.

So I got there. They took our IDs and gave us each an internal ID. Our names were forwarded. There was like a receptionist's podium where there were four HR staff staitioned there. They called us out one by one. I was one of the firsts.

The curly guy called me, so I approached the HR acting like a receptionist. He asked me about my content writing experience. So I told him I have this experience from this year to that year. He asked if that was freelance or office based.

To my thinking, wasn't most content writing on a freelance basis?

Puzzled by the question as I specified on the resume submitted that it was a freelance gig. Aside from the submitted resume they also made us answer an online form to write down again our job experiences.

So I said it was freelance.

Then he/she (his/her pronoun could be a he/she said, oh no sir what were looking is something that has experience from an office setting. The job is more on technical writing. We're looking for people with experience in technical writing. But sir since you have customer service experience I'll transfer you to the other account. Is that okay?

I can't argue if he says he/she is looking for technical writers. Then on the other role they got me tested for was a sales account but I am not a salesman. True enough they let me go through call center stuff tests, not my strong suit. I passed the English fluency but the other thing I'm not so sure but i felt it was easy enough. I might have botched a question or two.

They let me repeat the second part. They said I still have the same results. But the second take I took notes so I can answer the questions more prepared. I felt I should have a slightly higher score. The same score still? I feel there was like a collusion and it was a farcical show just to say some people were given the chance. I felt somebody said already he/she dont like the guy and they have like a ready charade to put on how to make it appear you didn't qualify.

First of all the post didn't say "Technical writing" cause even I know I don't like technical writing. No creative juices needed there. It's gonna bore me anyway. They clearly specified content writer.

Companies saying they are all for equal opportunities, I don't believe that because one's application will always be at the mercy of the screener.

Anyway rant over. I am just ranting cause I lost a lot of time in preparation and actually going there. The money wasted was secondary.

They don't even have a water station.

Rant over!!!

That sucks man, I hate when things like that happen. You are excited by an interview and it ends up being a load of crap. It’s for sure issues on the hiring group to not put the right information in a description.

Hopefully you can find another gig!

Had to rant it. Really sucks and to think it's a world class company
