I will throw a couple of my grumpy cents on this... ๐ While I'm all for saving (and if I remember well, we talked about it before), I'm also all for doing the opposite of what is told to me... ๐ I saw some commercial on a TV about (bank) savings too, and they were nowhere a few years ago... Why's that? So, I suppose that's just a traditional trick... We will raise inflation to 6-7% (or more), and we will give you 2-3% for your (bank) savings... So you will not be poor-poor, but you will stay poor...
Also, I don't believe in savings by spending... Because of that, a lot of people buy stupid shit that they will never use, just to get some coupon (for another stupid shit that they don't need)... (not saying that you are doing that ๐)
In general, savings - YES, but in some other assets and not fiat for pennies... If you have to, stablecoins for 10+%, to beat the inflation!

What's interesting is that these new "Tradfi" here starting to follow the crypto way of ROI. They are not doing the menial 2-3% ROI anymore but they are willing to do more that makes younger people want to save up more on top of the other offers they are doing.
Another thing that these apps do is super integrated that somehow you are actually using the coupons for transportation/meal discounts( at least for that bank owned by Grab). I am not sure if you guys have this in Europe where let's say UBER has their own banking system. So, the vouchers are not just for things that don't have its use. People here don't buy that kind of system, they typically want voucher that works, otherwise you won't get user/customer ๐
But you see, their intention is just making young people to save up considering our economy is a little fucked due to rampant online gambling and pretty much yolo lifestyle. So, let's give some break that at least now, savings is encouraged in either fiat or crypto or stablecoin ๐
Europe is turning into a big, open-air museum... I didn't notice too many movements in the directions that you mentioned... Or, I'm just too old to research... ๐คฃ
๐ haha I heard that same sentiment that I even hear someone mentioning " Make Europe Great Again"
Maybe in 100 years... lol...
