What bad luck for the worker, it's very rare that the tempered glass would break that easily.
I think my decision would depend on how he behaved before and after the accident, if before he was nice and after he became rude and bad tempered I would probably not feel bad and would not think of reaching any settlement but from what you say is not the case.
He has been responsible, respectful and did not damage the environment after the accident. In this case I would pay him a little more if I have the means to do it, in that case we would all lose equally for that accident and my conscience would be better.

He was kind and didn't change his behaviour, he even cut his finger in that accident, it was bleeding but he said it was nothing, just asked for an adhesive band-aid. He already ordered a replacement for the screen, let's hope it arrives this week and he can instal it, so when I see the final result and I am satisfied a little extra can be considered indeed :D
