One of the things people often times do is ignore the small wins. And by "people", I'm also referring to myself, lol. The average person doesn't really see the small win or progress as significant enough and often times ignores this, hoping for some big drastic change that would make them see progress. Forgive me, I'm actually talking from my point of view. My gym journey has taught me quite a lot, and one of the things I've learned is to trust the process.
As humans, we are hotwired to only believe if we see. It's kind of like a natural instincts for us, and you really can't blame us. Our eyes are the window to our soul, and we take in loads of information. When you do something for a long period of time, and you don't see changes or result, you tend to lose hope and possibly even back down. Well, here I am reminding you to trust the process. Often times the changes actually do occur, they are just too small for you to see, and then you assume there are none. These small changes accumulate into bigger changes and then mqore significant result. It's like the classic example of the Air conditioner. You change the room's temperature from 30°C down to 29°C and it doesn't get any cooler. You do that on and on until you get to 19°C and you feel the chill. The drop from 20°C to 19°C wasn't what made the room cooler, it was just the tipping point. Every single drop accumulated to the last tipping point.
MY POV
I have been lifting weights for some time now. I do three days a week and I have been constient for a while, buy fell short recently due to different personal reasons. I'd always wonder if I was making any progress for so long, as I didn't see any change on my body. Of course this can be due to different factors but still, I had expected to start getting some muscle definition. I contemplated stopping at some point, but I was already a gym addict at that point to quit. Fast forward to recently when I checked my weight after so long, only to realize I had put on almost five kg of muscle. If I didn't know any better, I would have thought I hit an impasse. I have been making progress and it has been good progress. So this is a message for you. Trust the process. Keep at it. The light will shine.

I miss hitting the gym! It’s been a long time since I’ve had a really solid workout like that but I think I’ll get back into it eventually. I do know that the gains are small bits over time but they are noticeable. I made some great gains in terms of what I looked like at my peak versus what I was years before. I wasn’t going for bulk but tone and that focus has lasted Neto this day which is nice. I don’t have the right muscles I used to but the shape is there if I can get a few more pounds shed it’ll show up! This is the benefit you’ll see long term - eventually you may take a break for family or kids or something and you’ll see it as long as you eat right.
Brilliant. It has been a long and arduous road for me but I realize the signs are there, they would just take a bit of time.
Thank you so much for your kind words.
I do hope you get some time to hit the gym again. 🙏🏿
