This morning, I sat down at my desk, as I felt like it.
Interestingly enough, I hardly ever sit (t)here. There's a couple of good reasons for this:
The desk is situated in my bedroom, at the first (and top) floor, where it is usually a couple of degrees Celsius warmer than downstairs. It is Summer now and this being a countryside, naturally heated and/ or cooled house, I usually spend most of the day - when I'm not in bed - downstairs or outdoors.
Aside from that, my kitchen is probably my favorite room: quite spacious with plenty of nice natural light and a sizable, four person kitchen table. I usually end up writing there.
Anyhow, this morning I woke up welcoming the much cooler weather. And that after I had gone to sleep in a 28 Celsius bedroom.
I felt drawn to my desk, after having prepared coffee and then felt like sending a picture of this (desk) to my good friend @clareartista , who often shares her whereabouts with me too.
Correction, she shared a picture of where she was sitting and I replied with a picture of my messy desk, as shown below:
and then, afterwards, I felt like sharing it with you all, on Hive...
*So, what you see in the above 'still life' is my not writing desk. It was meant to create at but I hardly ever sit here. It might change from now on, who knows. It's actually quite nice here, right now...
I am only a meter away from 2 French doors ( or actually Portuguese doors ), opening up to a balcony. In front of the balcony, there's some green trees that are, unfortunately, blocking the mountain view. I won't complain though, as the bird sounds make up for it. As does the bit of cool air that is still drifting in through the open doors on this much needed cooler day.*
My coffee and water are finished now. In fact, I have run out of coffee entirely. I have plenty of natural water to drink though. It makes its way from the water mine/spring/little cave in the garden, straight to the house.
Let me grab another glass, first, before I continue writing...
I changed my mind. I will likely make this a two part post.
In the follow up, hopefully tomorrow, I will share more about the following two photos, depicting my creativity, back in 2022 and these family pictures...
P.S. The picture at the top of this post shows my awesome nephew, who is now 10 years old. He is the son of my twin sister and they live 5km away from me. This picture must have been taken 5 or 6 years ago. I am not sure whether I was already working on the life of Hypersensitivosaurus, back then, but it clearly depicts a dino. It also shows a proud and younger me, in the background. We are sitting in my sister's garden, in the shade of an old fig tree that has, sadly, died a couple of years ago.
Such great photos, especially that top one, dear Vincent!
🤗
The top one sure tops them all.
You should meet my nephew in real life. He's awesome.
I hope I will!
🥳🥳🥳🥳
These are awesome!
I like them too. They are lino prints, based on drawings/illustrations that I made for my 2022 book: 'The Life of Hypersensitivosaurus: 22 Shorts Stories about Dinos and Other Animals'. Perhaps you remember some of that. Not so fun fact: The right one talked about animals butting heads ( inspired by the division created during the p(l)andemic and heated arguments with family members )
I love a well lived space like a desk. It may seem chaotic but that’s life - if something is obsessively clean, organized and dust free there’s not a lot of living going on in that space! I think your desk is looking awesome dude. The early photo of the Dino is fitting!
I agree. I don't really do deep cleaning. I do superficial cleaning as I have better things to do with my time and I like my place to represent the inside of my creative, somewhat chaotic brain.
I also leave plenty of cobwebs inside of my house, as they serve a purpose and I don't like flies and mosquitoes inside of my house ;>)
Cheers buddy! Hope you're well :<)
love the family shot over there. Nieces and nephews are totally grand..
So das heftig inderdaad. Dan werkt idd spoilen ook niet meer, das alleen voor kortdurende tripjes haha
Precies ;<)
Your desk sounds like a cozy spot good friend. I agree, living spaces should feel lived-in, not just perfectly tidy. The photos add a nice personal touch too
You get it.
I don't like soulless, meticulously clean houses that seem to come straight out of a showroom.
My living space resembles the inside of my head/mind: somewhat chaotic but very much alive.✨
I love the fact that it does look alive hehehehe nice one dear
that's not messy at all! I love that photo board and how it feels with the people you care about. The dino is iconic! only Vincent can pull that off :D
❤️ It sure brings back memories, whenever I look at it. Even more because my dad is no longer alive and my mom, two siblings plus a niece and nephew live over 2000 km away.
You do understand that it is my nephew that drew it? I am the proud uncle in the back ;<)
The Dinos run strong in this family!
They do :^)
🦖
That is NOT a messy desk. That is a creative spot in the house ;)
I agree
but I liked the alliteration ;^)
You tend to live such an interesting life even while you mostly be alone
The pictures are nice!
I am not alone that much. I see people almost daily, have a handful of good friends around and my twin sister and niece and nephew and actually have a friend visiting the area right now who I see almost every single day.
I do need and appreciate my alone time though. It's how I recharge and work on myself.
My living room is my favorite room. It is very colorful and seem like a motivation to me all the time
I wouldn't mind seeing a picture of your colorful living room ;<)
The top photo is very special.
It is.
