There were endless tulips, with 10 flowers for free
Do they have them already cut or do you get to pick the ones you want? Do you cut them or do they if you get to pick? It sounds really interesting. My mom went to Nova Scotia on a trip with my dad a long time ago and she fell in love with some flower that starts with an "L" that are pretty common up there. I used to get her some for Mother's Day every year after that, but she doesn't have much of a garden anymore. I think they were Lupines.
It is like a U-Pick. With your entry fee, which is $19 on weekdays, or $21 for the weekend, you get 10 free stems. Each one after that is $1 - also, any bulbs (to plant at home) are also $1. If you buy the passport, it is $75 - but you can go as many times as you want and for as long as you want. I like to pull some of the bulbs with the flowers. I can see what the flower looks like and if it is a good bulb. If you pull one by mistake, they have an amnesty box that you can put it in, you don't have to buy it.
I'm sure they were lupines. They run rampant up in the Northern tier. I love them as they self-sow and can spread in a field nicely. The Texas bluebonnets are also lupines.
BTW for the $75, I went every day almost, they are open 6 am to sunset. I get 10 free stems every time I go, even if I went twice a day. I didn't but, I did last year for flowers for the dinner table. :)
Anyway, thanks so much for stopping by and leaving your words.
#MarketFriday loves you!
Wow, that is really cool! Do they give you scissors or something? Wait what are they called? Secatuers?
Very good! That is exactly what they are! I call them pruning sheers because most people don't know what I mean when I call them that!
They actually snap really well. Their stalk is an easy break and they don't grow back. I bring a pair, I keep a bucket, shovel, and pruning sheers along with bags in the car. You never know when you will need
some!! :)
They actually have some to borrow, but, they run out quickly.
Ah, okay. That is really cool.
