RE: Grapes to Glass Tour at the Bull Run Winery: Market Friday: Part One

Oh to the days when I could drink good wine- red and white. Now it's only the very occasional glass of Moscato (I've got a sweet tooth and need the low alcohol content..) as that description of the wine sounded truly delicious and eventually when I get to Virgina (cause I am also a HUGE Clive Cussler Fan too..) I will definitely have to go there and have a sip or 2!

What a gorgeous place. I love those old American barns. I can't wait to go there for the history tours aswell!

Just got home from work and Indy and I are sitting in bed as I write this and Indy just said how much she LOVES grapes too- before they get crushed though! 😅

I lookforward to next weeks 2nd part tour!

Oh and I always thought that they planted the red and white roses at the end of each row to signify what grapes were planted there.

Sort:

Now that makes perfect sense! About these roses! I like your thoughts on it!

Interestingly enough, they use the same grape for the white as they do the red. I had no idea! But, it is true and when they showed me how I couldn't believe it. Doesn't it sound delicious?

What about DIRK????

I love those old barns too, except this was put up in 2010 - a true replica of the 1800s barn that was up. Haha! Indy has great taste. :) I will pull out the next part next week sometime and work on it some before I have to post it. I have the pictures mostly ready, but nothing else! Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving your words!

#MarketFriday loves you!

Thats very interesting to know that they use the same grapes regardless of what colour the wine is!

It's been a long time since I went wine tasting in the Yarra Valley wine region of Melbs and even longer since I used to arrange wine training tastings for my staff when I worked in Hospitality...

But I Do remember that a certain virus makes my favourite wines. And that virus is Botrytis cinerea which makes sweet desert wines. 😋

Oh, you are a fountain of information, woman! Thank you. I guess I didn't realize that you were in so deep with the hospitality industry.

Wine tastings, bourbon bars, sipping liquors... all such peaceful ways to pass the time with good company.

Haaa yes, I was in there and everywhere for 35yrs...restaurants/pubs/clubs/nightclubs/resorts/islands- low class/high class/5*/backpackers...everything.

I always wanted to own my own specialty cafe bar and call it ...the Chocolate Bar..🤣(ofcourne...lolsz..)

You would love the menu...both the food and my delicious cocktails too...

But then after my first heart attack in 2010, which made me stop drinking..my priorities changed and I realised what my true purpose in life was- which I am still battling to achieve- 12yrs later...

I do miss those days though, especially the wine tours and long lazy liquid lunches, but just don't have time anymore either (alcohol does not mix well w heart meds either..) and am happy to have $$$ in my pocket than over the bar too..

I hear that! I am such a disappointment to the wine (and alcohol) industry. My drinking consists of sips as I was never a real drinker, but, I have always been happy with that. I joke about wine, but, that is where it ends. I had alcoholism in my extended family (Uncle and aunt) and I don't find it in the least attractive.

I think the heart attack did you a small favor in some ways. Alcohol rarely even mixes well with life for most. Chocolate Bar? I love it. Sounds like a great cappuccino/coffee bar!

And yummy!! It sounds delicious!

I was never a heavy drinker in the sense that I drank daily and just for the sake of it, but as a hospitality worker, I was a heavy drinker as it was for me as a party thing and I had a lot of parties, a LOT of GREAT times which I do not regret at all, but yes, I am (to an extent) thankful that I did have that first HA so I could take the time to stop and reconsider my future.

Soz, no coffee in the Chocolate bar...well ok yes there is, but the spotlight would be on the chocolate versions of coffee styles...🤣

Well now it's 1am and I do need to sleep, so I will say bonne nuit and I hope that you continue to have a wonderful day (while I snore my head off..🤣)

This was my 6th day at work and I have just 1 day off-tomorrow to do so much (clean up after Indy..) and something for me- my purpose which I haven't had the energy or motivation/confidence to do in the past 6months and I have promised myself that tomorrow (today) is the day, as it's a Monday and I love starting things on a Monday because it's a fresh start..

Oooh oh ooooh and I think that Clive Cussler's estate and the state of

Virginia need to create the great Cussler tour around all of those places in Virginia mentioned in his novels! I would be the first visitor!!! 😃

Goodnight gorgeous Denise!
