RE: Market Friday visits Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico

in Market Friday4 years ago

I love bats! We have a few here in the town we live in. It is nice of an evening to watch the housemartins chase after the insects, and they climb higher and higher and then suddenly you realise they have gone and the things sweeping over your head are bats. I've never quite managed to notice the exact moment the birds hand the insect chasing batten over to the bats!

Those caves are amazing!

Anyway, as it is Friday, you get the usual photos of our market. It has turned cooler and is a bit overcast today. There are fewer stallholders. This is not COVID related. Usually, there are fewer tourists in the last two weeks of August (people still have time off work but go back to Paris to prepare for La Rentrée - the return to work and school) so many locals with families take this opportunity to go on holiday themselves.

Have a lovely weekend! :)

Oh!!! I really don't like bats! We had a summer house, my family did and it had a barn where the bats would roll out every evening, just ask dusk would come to town. They would swoop down and I could feel the air run through my hair! Ewwww! I was petrified of them!

As an aside, when I lived in San Antonio, Texas, where there are huge colonies of bats, one actually got caught in a girl's hair at a mall in San Marcos, a nearby town. I just about freaked out. My worst nightmare!!!

Ah, boo. Summer is kissing us goodbye, I can feel it coming. Even though it has been over 32C for about 6 weeks, it feels different than in the heat of July. I hope you are having a pleasant weekend and thank you, as always for dropping your link!

#MarketFriday loves you!
