I went to this restaurant at the request of a Chinese friend, who loves the fries they sell here. I really would have preferred to go somewhere else, but I gave in to please her. I placed my order in the machine stationed in the restaurant. My order was as follows:
1 Big Mac Meal-Large
1 Large Sprite
1 Big Mac Meal-Large
1 Large Sprite
On the receipt, my order is the last two items ( The first two are my friend's).
I paid $10,40. Twice what I expected to pay. I must confess that I went to Macdonald's thinking I was gonna be able to buy cheap meal, and I ended up paying $10,40, an unexpected amount of money for my meal. I thought I was only going to spend like $6 or $7 maximum, but I was not taking inflation into consideration. I really had the idea that Macdonald sold the cheapest fast food. I found the hard way I was wrong.
He pagado 10,40 dólares.
Anyway, I enjoyed my hamburger and the french fries. I must confess that I love junk food, but I'm not a big fan of Macdonald's hamburgers. There are better places to eat hamburger here, for sure; nonetheless, I just went there because I wanted to have time to enjoy with my friends. All in all, it was a good day, despite paying more than I had budgeted.
MacDonald's in Venezuela
In my country, Venezuela, eating at a MacDonald's was always expensive. It was a luxury for many. You paid a lot of money for the little food (and of poor quality you got) and it is a restaurant to take the kids or where teenagers go. That is more or less the idea of a Macdonald's in Venezuela.
$10 in the US, $10 dollar is Venezuela. What it takes to earn it.
10 dólares en Estados Unidos, 10 dólares es Venezuela. Lo que se requiere para ganarlo.
In Ohio, United States, ten dollars is the minimum that, by law, an unskilled, non-tipped worker can earn for one hour of work. With this amount of money, any worker can easily buy a six-pack of beer and two hot dogs at any local establishment. Not bad, if we compare this amount with what workers in other countries around the world earn per hour. For example, in Venezuela, the minimum wage for a worker is $30 per month; that is, people earn 0.18 cents per hour of work, and $10 would be equivalent to a week and a half of work, approximately. Unbelievable, but true. One wonders what this money can buy these people there or anywhere in the world with a similar situation (although I don't think there is any country in the world with a situation similar to the Venezuelan one, to be honest).
So interesting to see what you bought for 10 dollars in Ohio in McDonald’s. Yep didn’t look cheap. Not sure what it would be here in Spain. Haven’t been for a longggg time.
I must admit… I bought ice cream with my 10 dollars hahaha lol
Thanks for sharing 😎 have a great weekend!
I bet it was a big and delicious one.
Have a look at my post and you find out 😉
I will for sure!
Cool, thanks 😁🤩
It's so unfortunate you had to spend more than you budgeted but it's a good thing you enjoyed the meal and you had fun.
Thanks ! Yes, next time I will choose a better place, with better meals.
Yeah that is a good idea.
Oh my dear! this is very sad!!! people earn so little in your country. no wonder there are almost no people in your photos there. I am not a fan of this place at all, although when I was young, my friends and I liked to go there. I especially liked their shake and ice cream
Hi @tali72 . No, the pictures are from Ohio . Im in the States right now. Sorry, my post was confusing. But yes, wages in Venezuela are one of the lowest in the world.
This is what is happening now, high prices of goods and services a everywhere and the situation is getting worse in Ghana now, with new prices every time you visit the market, requiring you to carry additional cash with you in order to avoid being in need at the market. I really enjoy reading about your experience at McDonald's, thanks for sharing
Having lived in Venezuela, I have a masters in inflation. I know how it feels . it is kind of stressing. Yes, economies get inflationary from time to time, except for Venezuela which has been inflationary for more than two decades. I hope things get better soon for your country. Thanks for visiting @collinz
I haven't been to McDonald's in a long time. I wonder how much would those item be here in our city.
$10 can be earned by one person in a day depending on what kind of job you have. For the common wage earners though that can be earned for a day and a half at least.
