Adulting and maturity ... is the stage where a person sees life as something more serious. Based on the age category, it starts when a person arises to adolescence. Basically, around teens to 20s.
However, not everybody who turns in the legal age becomes mature. Being one requires the willingness to step up and accept bigger responsibilities. More so, to clasp changes in the way of how to move and think. In simplest terms, it is about:
" ... Embracing maturity and lessening the possibilities to commit childish acts."
Not everyone can commit to "adulting and maturity", regardless of how old a person is. Sometimes, kids tends to be more mature than their eldest. And truthfully, I will always crave to embrace adulting and maturity, wholeheartedly.
One of the many improvements of a matured individual is how he engage into better habits. For instance, saying "no" whenever our parents command us to go to the market to buy this and that. But nowadays, we view "shopping" or "marketing" as something that can possibly make us stress-free and relaxed.
Hence, what's more great is how we choose to spend our own and hard-earned money than to ask for our parent's money to provide our needs and therefore, to satisfy such whims.
And I absolutely agree to what Stacey Jaclyn Dooley, an English journalist and media personality, have stated about shopping. It goes like this:
" ... Shopping is a way to unwind. Moreover, shopping is never a bad idea."
Since life hadn't been so easy for our family, my mind seems to think more mature since I turned fifteen. And as I get into 20s, specially 19-years old, I've became a die-hard fan of shopping.
" ... but here's the twist, it is not to shop for new clothes, bags and other luxuries. Instead, it's all about 'grocery shopping.'"
Starting by August 2020, I begin to do monthly grocery shopping whereas I am purchasing our family's 2-3 weeks of essential supplies.
In this blog, let me bring you with me as I do the "shopping for the New Year's Eve celebration."
Early in the morning, I and my younger sister leaved the house to travel to the city proper to avoid getting stuck into the crowd. And, it took us 20-minutes before we set foot to our target destination.
- First stop, let's go to Friendship Supermarket.
During the Christmas, I prepared Crema de fruta as our family's dessert. And of course, I won't let this very special occasion to passed by without having this dessert, again.
In Friendship Supermarket, I only bought the needed ingredients for the mentioned desser such as: graham crackers, all-purpose cream, sweetened condensed milk, fruit cocktail, gelatin, etcetera.
- Second stop, to the Super99.
Super99 ... is an establishment that offers mass variety of house essentials and furnitures, cosmetics, machinery tools and other electronics, school supplies, etcetera.
I didn't stay that long here as I only need to buy two things: aluminum tray and barbecue sticks.
- Third stop, to the thrifty stalls of "ukayan."
Ukayan ... is where we could buy pre-loved items such as shirts, blouses, pants, dresses, and so on.
What I aim to buy in here are the formal attire to be wore in my upcoming thesis outline presentation next Friday. And, finally! I found several pieces that almost looks brand new. From a budget of PhP 200.00 ($3.51), I was able to purchase three (3) long sleeves and a trouser. And, yeah! It's definitely a "mission, accomplished!"
- For the hindmost stop, let's go to the "City's Public Market."
In here, agricultural commodities (i.e. vegetables and fruits), livestocks, garments, and such can be found.
Whenever I go to the market, I do not use my phone to avoid it from getting snatched or to possibly lose it. That's why, I don't have photos showing how our market looks like.
Upon roaming around for 30-minutes and up, I purchased varieties of round fruits (e.g. apples, oranges, watermelon) and meats. Additionally, I personally get the marinated pork barbecue that I ordered from my close friend.
It took us more than 3-hours before we finally settled every single thing to be purchased. Around 9:35AM, we are on the way home:
And, here are what we bought:
CLOSING THOUGHTS
Shopping, marketing or whatever it may be termed as, it is undeniably a "stress-reducing-task" for me, despite of how expensive it will be. The satisfaction to use my own money to buy such things is a plus factor.
If I were to choose between watching movies in cinema or to do grocery shopping? I will always choose the latter with my body shivering.
