MY MARKET EXPERIENCE

in Market Friday β€’ 2 years ago (edited)

Hello there, I'm so pleased to welcome you to my market Friday blog initiated by @dswigle πŸ₯°. It's been a while I've written a market blog and it's not because I don't visit the market but because I always forget to take photos that I can share but good thing is that I remembered when I went to the market about a month ago. Yes, a month ago was when I took all of the photos I'd be sharing with you and they were taken by my sister's phone* (not the sister most of you know though, hehe).

Well without wasting much time talking too much, let's get into my market blog...

IMG_0208.jpeg

It was the month of our election here in my country and we faced a lot during that period because of the cashless policy that was happening at that time. Since the elections were coming, we were advised to get as many food stuffs as we could get and luckily for my sister (the person I live with here in school) and I, we got some support from some persons added to the little we had and so we were able to go to the market to get some food stuffs. Like I said, the cashless situation made things really hard for us and the worst part was that it was also hard to make online payments due to network issues and some other problems.

IMG_0207.jpeg

This is my sister and myself with our neighbor, we all went to the market together because we knew we would be buying a lot of things, especially our neighbor, hehe. And I also went along because I wanted to know how the market was in my new place of residence (Benin city in Nigeria) and also get a waybill. The market was not so busy but the good thing was that it had everything we needed and it was also easy to pay because everyone we transacted with accepted online payments (yes, it worked).

IMG_0206.jpeg

My neighbor had a little baby so we went to get diapers for her and also sanitary pads for the girls, hehe.

IMG_0202.jpeg

This is another view of the shop that shows the different detergents for washing. We didn't get any of them because we already bought some before.

IMG_0205.jpeg

And this is the image of some edible stuffs, we got milk and it's called Loya milk. We went for that product because it was a full cream milk, very tasty and rich.

IMG_0203.jpeg

Here is the my neighbor carrying her baby's diapers while we were trying to make payments for what we've got which cost over $20.

IMG_0221.jpeg

We bought other items from other shops but I couldn't get photos of everything, so when I got home, I took out time to take a shot of some of the things we bought.

IMG_0212.jpeg

If you take a close look, you would see some notebooks, I bought them for myself because since I resumed the semester, I haven't been able to get some notebooks because I did some photocopy of the notes I needed since I started the semester late and I was preparing for the first semester examination.

IMG_0219.jpeg

We also bought some sachet Hollandia drink, my sister loves them a lot and couldn't resist not getting some even when we don't have so much.

IMG_0217.jpeg

Of course some fast food, hehe.

IMG_0215.jpeg

Here is a clear view of the Loya milk, if you are in Nigeria you should try it out, you'd love it, hehe.

My market Friday ended up with me going to get my afritunes t-shirt from the park it was sent to.

IMG_0512.jpeg

This is me when I tried it on 🀭, I just love the quality of the t-shirt it's just so nice and I'm grateful to the @afritunes community for counting me worthy to get one πŸ₯°.

That's it guys, I'm pleased to share my market experience with you. Don't hesitate to leave your thoughts at e comment section, it would be highly appreciated 😊.

Hello! Hello!! You made it! Hehe! I am honored by your presence. I forgot about the elections and was surprised when everyone was saying cashless... Oh, no. It didn't sound as bad as it could have been.

I really like the way all of you get together to help one another, especially the new mother. Sweet! You guys are the best. We should all do that anyway. One never knows when you might need help. Do unto others (or for others) as you would want done ... You get the drift.

I'm excited about school. What is your major? I love cornflakes! With raisins or some other good thing, I love your t-shirt!!! Thanks for being a part of #MarketFriday!
#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world. Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday

Rules of the Road to Join #MarketFriday!

1.Go to any type of market, or anywhere where you pay money for a service. It can be a museum, a movie theatre, or an auction. Be creative!
2.Tell us a little bit about the market or the event. What brought you there? What did you buy? How much did it cost? We like to compare prices, otherwise, it is just pictures of a market!
3.Post the pictures! No out-of-focus ones, please! Tell a little bit about the pictures that you post. Having many pictures to scroll through does not make a better post without explanation.

Awwn, thank you so much partner, it's been a while, I'm so honored to have you stop by πŸ₯°.

Yes a very long time that I had not seen you, so came to see what you were up to😎

This market has the same setup as the market I have grown up with, when I was still living in a province back in my home country.
Wow, cashless. Pretty innovative now! I hope the network will be stable though. Sometimes network issues are really making us step back and not move forward.
Happy market friday to you! You seem happy shopping with your loved ones! So nice to see those smiles!

Here the cashless situation was a very bad experience for almost everyone but it's a good thing we were able to survive through it.

It's good to know my market blog brought back some memories for you, it's refreshing to know that πŸ₯°.

It was indeed a great time going to the market with my loved ones, thank you so much for stopping by and leaving such a lovely comment ❀️. !LADY

How are you doing? How is school treating you?
Do have a great weekend

You too like better thing, hehe. I'm doing well and school is fine, just that it's really strength draining most times.

Thank you so much for stopping my amiable ambassador ❀️.

Weldon @afritunes, the election period was really tough, people were willing to do anything to get cash, their own money oo and at a point after being in the queue for hours, bank accountants will only allow withdrawals for #2000 and below. Thank God it's subsiding now.

As for your market, would you care to share the state and probably the town the market is located, I might want to travel down so as to get my loyal milk directly from that same shop you got yours from, hehe 😜😜

Hahaha, how can you want to travel down to the city I'm in just to get loya milk? Lol, that's funny but in case you are serious, the name of the market is Uselu, hehe, don't try pronouncing it too much if it's giving you hard time πŸ˜‚.

Indeed I'm happy the cashless situation is getting better, at that point it was feeling like it won't pass 😩.

Yes it was, in fact it lasted longer than expected, I only kept wondering what this guys up there sat comfortably in their homes watching people suffering even to the point of death for like 4 months. There hearts are hardened.

Lol, I think I got the pronunciation at my first try, lol.
I'm sure you must have finished most of the items in those pictures, I would have asked you to keep mine, anyways enjoy the rest of your day

I'm still struggling to get a new one jhare.

Eyaaaah! If I were a whale, I would have gotten you a phone...just to secure my place on the queue, but I'm not up to a crayfish sefπŸ‹οΈ

Lol, it's fine jhur πŸ˜‚

I see you bought Molfix, haha, I used to buy it for my little one, it's the best brand and quality wise better than Pampers.

Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment !PIZZA

Hmm, this one is big girl shopping spree oo. Especially since it was during the election period.
