"Once you're a mom, you're always a mom. It's like riding a bike, you never forget." ~ Taraji P. Henson
Doing groceries with mother was the best because she also became my sponsor of all my groceries. She insisted after playing 'tug-and-war' with me for awhile. I surrendered to her wish.
During the 2nd last day of being here with us, my parents decided to go to a supermarket at nearby mall call Aeon. My mother said the sweet potatoes back at hometown were not as sweet as the sweet potatoes here, so she was going buy from here and then to fly the Japanese sweet potatoes from here Kuala Lumpur to Sarawak.
Here at the sweet potatoes section.
I became the main trolley fella while talking photos for #marketfriday. And yes, I mentioned to my parents about it and also mentioned the awesome lady who initiated the tag, thank you, Denise aka @dswigle. There was one section of hilarious moment, I shall talk about it later below.
Before we reached the sweet potatoes zones, my mother actually spotted the Black Truffle chips. She knew my husband loved this so she grabbed three, two for us, one for my brother.
After sweet potatoes, she started asking me what I needed to top up in my fridge and freezer. I said nothing. But she kept walking to different section and kept asking.
Finally, she expressed her desire to me, that she wanted to buy groceries for me, to help top up my fridge and freezer — from fruits to vegetables to meat. That it was her last day here with me, so she just wanted to do something for me. Awww... A mother will always be a mother. Just like how she constantly thought of my needs and wants when I was young and would try her best to fulfil if those were under her means.
Fruits section
We walked to the fruits section. We found this person cutting huge jackfruit. She knew the children love jackfruit so she grabbed it for us.
We proceeded to another section of local fruits of rambutan (hairy red fruit) and mangosteens and dragonfruits. Always love the nice colours of fruits.
Then I saw so many bananas arranged nicely. Usually, there were not so many, so I took photos of them too. I scanned around to see whether was my dad around me as I felt abit embarrassed, knowing that he had yet to know this new part of me, being avid blogger and loved taking photographs when I was out.
Clear. Dad was not around. I confidently lifted up my phone and positioned my body and limbs in order to find the perfect angle to take photo of the long array of bananas.
"You took photos of bananas also? Why? The reader never see bananas before?"
It was my dad. How on earth he suddenly popped up behind me? Scared my pants off!
I replied with a tad feeling of shyness that in #marketfriday blog, we could take photos of what we saw or buy. He just frowned and still smiled candidly. His definition of blogging is those professional blogging where you provide knowledge and education to people, he is not exposed to fun part of writing like in Hive here. Haha. He must be thinking what on earth happened to her daughter.
I changed topic by looking out for mother. Lol. She was at lemons side. Followed by pumpkins. She also knew Jansen loved pumpkin and my husband is doing infused water using lemons.
She asked whether I needed lettuce or any green vegetables or capcisum chillies. I just needed some 'bok choy'.
Chicken, fish and meat
We proceeded to chicken and fish and meat section. She saw pineapple chicken and asked have I tried. Since I had not, she took one. And many things were on sale that day so it was cool. Apparently, pineapple chickens were being fed pineapple and the meat tasted sweeter.
She asked me to grab one organic chicken to for boiling soup and we saw the chicken which listens to Mozart. Haha. I didn't take that one but another type with discounted price.
I did not need beef or lamb but I had some photos of them, as well as all those marinated meat for those who loved fast cooking.
As for fish, she also insisted to buy fish so I tried to choose those on discounted price because I felt the total bill would be very high.
Some fresh fish and special breed one were those expensive fish, so I skipped. She even asked me whether I needed crab since my eldest son, Jayden loves crab. Of course not, so expensive.
This was how the trolley looked like, and I thought it was enough for the day — grabbed so many stuffs yet my mother would pay all for me — heart was melting, felt so touched. My parents still asked me whether to buy snacks like biscuits and chocolates for the boys? Cheese, yogurt and butter? Coffee? Tea? No, no, no. Enough. Enough.
On our way to car park at Level 2, my parents also stopped at Level 1 to scout for electric steamer for my youngest brother. It was a gift for him since he just shifted to a new place. He had everything in kitchen already except electric steamer. Bear brand, my choice. I hope it chose the correct one.
I felt so blessed. Heart was overflowing with parents' love. Until today, eventhough I am already a mom with children, my parents still treat me like their baby, still wanted to buy so many things for us. May they be blessed with more financial stability and great strength and great health.
Thank you for journeying "Market Friday" with me.

I love eating sweet potato, the boiled one then paired with coffee. My typical snacka when I was still in province.
Seemed rambutan was in season now, I saw a lot for sell in the market too the last time I visited.
Wooooooo I'm looking to get a steamer too. How much and is it good?
