Hi all 👋🏻

Join me Today for PART 2 of my adventures at KYLEMORE ABBEY were we will wander from the Victorian Walled Garden towards the Abbey/ Castle back along the road where the bus 🚌 drove and I show you what I saw along the way 😎 like the CONNEMARA PONY, an antique FIRETRUCK and much more

With this post in our lovely #community this Friday I join in at #MarketFriday by @dswigle - Denise.

‼️If you want to know more about #MarketFriday’s have a look at the community about it: Market Friday community! run by the lovely @dswigle and her last post: “Market Friday : Fishing Around for Tackle“ where you find also the rules what to post if you want to join us. Do join in, it is fun 🤩

Today’s selection will be of 32 photographs.
Date: 16 July 2023
The Photographs in this post are all taken with my iPhone 📱🤓
I will follow the time stamps on them. So it looks like you are experiencing my adventures with me, to 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 #discover everything what I saw, like the little #details seen through my eyes wandering around the #Estate of #Kylemoreabbey. 😊

The location of the Estate of Kylemore Abbey you find on the following screenshot of Google maps shown with the yellow star ⭐️:

If you missed my first post from last Wednesday you find PART 1 here: 🏰 🌸 “KYLEMORE ABBEY/ CASTLE and its Victorian Walled Garden 🌼🌹” in Connemara County Galway - Ireland 🇮🇪 PART 1 ~ Wednesday Walk
(DON’T MISS OUT ON THOSE VIEWS 😉 so have a little peak… I promise, it is worth it)

More information about Kylemore Abbey you find on their website: Kylemore Abbey!

Tickets cost see screenshot of their website : Source!

So 2 of us payed €32,- for the full day and we could visit everything in the estate, including entry to the abbey and gothic church. (More posts will follow 😉)

Let’s start our walk for today. 😊
Are you coming?

As we walk away from the walled garden we see next to the tea house 🫖☕️🧃 a field and this sign.

The sign tells us;

The Connemara pony is Ireland's only native breed. Famous for being hardy and sure-footed the pony evolved in the western part of County Galway, known as Connemara. This area of rough terrain, rocky landscape and wet harsh climate helped develop a breed that is strong, sturdy, resilient and adaptable.

Traditionally used on the farm to pull a plough or bring in the turf from the bog, the pony was also the only means of transport for many living in this barren area. Most families could only afford to keep one pony often a mare whose off-spring was sold annually to provide much-needed income. Any animal that couldn't carry out the tasks on a daily basis was replaced, and this difficult lifestyle helped the Connemara pony develop its trademark stamina and adaptability.

Though much of the pony's history is based on legend with a history that some believe dates back to the Celts, it is said that horses on board ships from the Spanish Armada, which ran aground off the west coast of Ireland in 1588, interbred with the wild native ponies in the area. Additional strength and stamina was added in the 1700s with the introduction of Arabian blood. Other introductions were also made but too much crossbreeding began to dilute the pony blood lines, and so steps were taken in the early twentieth century that would to the pony’s preservation and improvement.

And here they are… let me #introduce to you the CONNEMARA PONY 😊

Surrounded by this breathtakingly stunning scenery, WOW 🤩

Let’s walk a bit further so we are closer by…

A mare and her foal.

We find another sign that has a lot of information about the pony:

I walked further and take the following photos. Such beautiful pony’s. I am no ‘horse person’ but I soooo appreciate their beauty, especially in this setting 😎

The foal looks at me what I am doing hehehe 🤭 and walks away from the mare.

Not to far… just a little bit.

And lays down to rest… 😴😴

I capture 2 more photos of the mare alone…

Last one 😉

Let’s walk further along the path… we see some more Monterey Cypress trees 🌲

Beautiful details in the bark… and the moss growing up is cute.

About half way back along the path there is a little building and in front of the building we find this antique #firetruck:

So cool… they used it on this estate. 🚒🚒🚒🚒🚨

The little motor 🤓

Great they kept it and restored. Not everything is attached but we get to see how it looked back in the days. 🚨🚒

Shortly after, as we walk further, we find a waterfall 😎
The estate has a waterfall… awesome.
Let’s have a look 😊

The stream come from the high mountain behind the estate.

On the left side is a large grass area around some more trees 🌳 where I found many different mushrooms 🍄 I will share them soon 🤓

One last time, a look at the waterfall. Beautiful, I love the sounds of waterfalls. So powerful.
Do you?

We are passing by a lough/lake now… it has the following sign next to the path:
Have a read 📖

Part of the 9 pines… they are so large. I can’t get them all in the photo.

So old… 🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲

I take a quick photo before more visitors walk by… 📸 believe me those pines are huge.

Along the path we find some instruments you can play with.

Sadly some tools were gone. But one could use a rock, the chain is for heavy winds to hold it together. 🌬️

Just before we reach the Abbey again I find this beautiful tree 🌲

Look how it grew 🥰

We reached the abbey again after this long stroll back along the path the bus brought us the other way. I will share with you next week the Abbey and much more 😊 so stay tuned!

…and here I say “that’s all for today’s post my friends”… join me next time for more #updates, #adventures, #stories and #photographs soon 😎👋🏻 Even some #artworks once in a while will come by” 🎨
Thank you so much for looking, and reading.

I'd like to live there please.

Just swinging by to send love.

Beautiful post. As always.

Happy belated #marketfriday angel <3

Yes… me too. The location and scenery… the green, the forest, lake… just perfect.

Hi sweetie 👋🏻😊 hope you are well.
Thanks a lot.
Have a wonderful new week.
Big huggsss and much love ❤️

Wow, Jackie! @littlebee4 Such a beautiful post you have given #MarketFriday! Thank you! The scenery with the Connemara Ponies is stunning! What a scenic background they graze in. I have to say that the sight of them is fitting with the mountains in the back. I love these ponies, although many people always wonder about the pony/horse title. It is usually because of the size that confuses people and I thought this might help here.

I have three horses, although one is considered a pony by name. He is a Chincoteague Pony with the same history of being shipwrecked way back when. The Connemara is well known for being a wonderful show horse, intelligent, gentle, strong, and a very special breed. I digress, but, they are gorgeous!

The forest, the trees... I wish you knew how much I love trees and nature! I can see your love for it, it is obvious and your pictures frame it nicely. I like the nine pine stands of trees. What a nice legend to leave behind. I have silly little things I leave behind wherever I live. Since I have left home, when I move to a new house, I always, always plant a peach tree, sometimes two. I plant a lilac bush if it will survive. I take a piece of my grandmother's lilac and transplant the lilac shoots directly into the ground. I always take care to put it in full sun and well-draining soil. They always grow!

The trees. without a doubt are amazing there... but not to be outdone by the waterfall! I long for my own personal waterfall... don't we all?

Everything about Kylemore is stunning and over-the-top beautiful. What a nice day and I cannot thank you enough for sharing it with us!

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.

Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday

Thank you kindly Denise, happy to share all the beauty around me. The things I love.
I know how much you like these things… many things I do too.
Most people say horses. It is difficult to see. Like these ponies, they look so large and when people think pony they think small. That was definitely a helpful article. Thanks for sharing.

Oh how wonderful, the same history of being shipwrecked.
I must agree, they are beautiful. I loved seeing them. Especially in this scenery. Could spend daysssss there. Hehehe 🤭

I know Denise. We have many similarities. I love nature, this nature… as Spain couldn’t give it to me.
What he did is so great, planting a tree for each child. And all are still there. Such magnificent giants.
Rugged… and full of details. Wonderful.
That’s great you do plant those where you live every time. So great to hear about the lilac’s.
I didn’t have a garden most of the times. But… will plant many trees 🌳 ones we have a garden. 😊
We did look at some plots today. The search for a mature one is difficult here.

Yes, we all would love a private waterfall… or a stream coming if the mountain… fresh water… a dream 😊

Thank you so much Denise, I am happy you came along. Can’t wait to share the abbey itself and the gothic church.
Have a fantastic Monday and a great new week. ☀️🌺

Okay, so I fell seriously behind with everything over the past week due to unforeseen circumstances, but I just had to come and read this post...lol! I love to read about these places!

That's some really interesting information about the ponies that you shared early in your article.

Wow! You covered quite a variety in this post. The ponies, the trees, the fire truck, the waterfall... Especially those Pine Trees...they are huge!

I could actually sense the freshness reading through this article and looking at the photos.

Thank you for sharing this with us, @littlebee4! I apologize for being so late though!

Aawww thank you my friend, that’s nice.
I am happy you came along and saw what I saw. This place is so beautiful 🤩

Loved the ponies with that backdrop. We saw so much walking back towards the abbey.
I couldn’t cover it all in one post. So have posted 3 now. One more left… the abbey itself.

That’s great, it was a fresh day and we were lucky we could out run the rain… and after 1 hour 40 minute drive we ended up here. And had a dry day ☀️
It still is raining a lot, more than usual. The news says July has been the wettest month ever in Ireland.

No worries… we all get busy or occupied with other things sometimes @jacoalberts 👋🏻😊 all good.
Enjoy your weekend!

The wettest month ever in Ireland! Wow! That must really be wet. As far as I know, Ireland is known for getting lots of rain...am I right?

Exactly… it is known for the rain. And now they say July was the wettest month ever.
They are right though… it rained every day. For weeks on end.
Today after lunch the rain stopped… so we hopped in the car and drove about 1 hour and had a long walk… along a canal and over a boardwalk. It was nice. It stayed dry too.
Driving home this evening it started to rain again hahaha 🤣!LOL

!PIZZA

Wow! That's amazing😅👍!

It was and it gave us some relief from the rain 🌧️

Don’t you hate it when someone answers their own questions?
I do.

That's Ireland for me. Horses and stunning scenery and the green always looks so vibrant and err green! What a beautiful set of photos. Horses get me everything!

It goes without saying that you're going to have an amazing weekend!

Best wishes to you both :-)

Yes, exactly that. The scenery is just wow 🤩
The different shades of green are spectacular. It does rain a lot, hasn’t stopped for a week now.
Luckily one can dress for it.
Thanks a lot, they looks so beautiful against that backdrop. How could I not take lots of photos hehe
Thanks you, and so it is…

Best wishes to you both too, enjoy the last bits of your weekend and have a great start of the new week 👋🏻😊

What an amazing place!! I thought the tour ended with the pony but there’s also a tour of the surroundings which are incredible by the way! Don’t know why but I recalled Forrest Gump running in a path like that 😅

It sure is a stunning place. Loved our day there. I will share more from it as there is the castle and a gothic church too. Next week 😉
