Happy Friday, Market Hivers!

For today's market stroll, we went to the town's night market. The officials aimed to bring back economic development and growth of the municipality. Thus, they organized the night market. I thought it was part of the series of events they have prepared for Christmas however, I learned that this practice would last forever.
Vendors who sell different kinds of dishes gather in the area outside the municipal hall. Every food stall boasts its best delicacy and recipe. Barbecue, Lechon, street foods, shakes, drinks, and any other finger foods. There are a variety of foods to choose from. You can have what you crave. You can drop by whenever you feel hungry like a cow. Or you can just easily visit the market when you feel lazy to prepare your meal. Name it they have it.
I have been meaning to visit the night market however I failed to do so because I'm occupied with my online classes and by the time I come home, my roommate is already asleep. I have no company and though it's okay for me to be alone, I find it awkward to walk in the swamp of people alone.
However, last Friday, my boyfriend was in the mood to say yes to my request. The night market is a thirty-minute ride from his home and I'm glad he came by.
Balut Stalls
Outside the market, proper are lanes of balut stalls. Balut is a term used the describe a boiled, fertilized duck egg. Here, packs of fried pork rinds also called chicharron are displayed. There are also bottles of buko juice mixed with milk.
The Entrance
The night market is made festive with colourful banners of red and yellow and tiny bulbs of light. The banners stay there even in the daytime. Only the food stalls are kept during the day making way for the vehicles that would pass by in the daytime. This street will be cleared before the vendors would come home at night.
Before diving in, we stroll around the area first. We have an idea in mind about what stall to choose and what food to order.
We are done in at Ila Anju. It's famous for its lechon belly. They sell small servings so I ordered a Lechon belly rice meal. It's composed of chunks of Lechon belly with rice. My boyfriend opted for the 200-peso serving of Sisig. He added rice and drinks.
The food as always is yummy. I liked the Lechon belly. My boyfriend wasn't impressed with the Lechon belly but the sisig lived up to his expectations. He was busy taking pictures before eating dinner. I thought he would use it too for blogging but no, he will just be using it for keepsakes.
Overall, we had fun. It was a worthwhile Friday night last week. I'm looking forward to what this weekend would bring.
Thank you so much @dswigle for this initiative.

Sisig! Natakam naman ako - been eating in our home lately and we are not able to enjoy such activities.
Parang ang kaunti nung servings nung lechon hahaha, parang it will not be enough sa lalamunan ko.
It is almost as if we are back to normal na anu, night markets are now available for sure sa Christmas mas marami na ang magbubukas hopefully all business establishments will flourish na.
Yes. Cute ng servings hehe. 90 pesos lang yan with rice.
For sure marami nga kung hindi na bumalik yung surge ng covid.

it looks like a nice night market. In my city, the night market is also crowded with people, as part of a way to revive the city's economy.

You're welcome
I'm so glad you were able to enjoy such a nice evening with your partner. Few things are as satisfying as treating yourself as a couple. I really liked the pictures and the food looks exquisite, even though I'm not familiar with it. Best regards and good article.
