Hello. Testing 1 2 3... Is this how you post? It has been so long I have forgotten just about how to work this here site. Of course it hasn't been THAT long, but the way my brain gets caught up with the minutiae of the day, it doesn't take much to cause me to forget any and everything.
I am posting this picture of grills lined outside of a Lowes in Rocky Mount VA to illustrate the difference between there and Michigan. Here in Michigan the local Lowes will have heavy duty snow blowers and electric generators on display! Yes Spring does come early in Virginia. BTW Rocky Mount is a cool town. I am not sure if it is a small, big town or a big, small town, but what I do know is they have a Lowes and a Walmart but with a small town feel! From where I will be, if I cant get some thing in town or in Burnt Chimney, I can hit Rocky Mount instead of going on to Roanoke.
I am watching for some sales on a wood chipper. I am really needing one. In fact you can rest assured most upvotes I earn in the immediate future will likely be going towards one of these bad boys! I got a lot of trees and brush to clear!
Now as far as lodging while I am in Virginia, I have been staying at the Quality Inn. For around 50 bucks a night (AARP discount included), it is a decent deal. They dont have a pool as far as I know, but they have a 5 star HUGE parking lot that is idea for my truck and trailer. No the Quality Inn is not too fancy, basically a bed and a Bible kind of a place, but that suits us just fine as I would rather not pay for a bunch of frills.
Of course not paying for needless frills does allow us to put a few bucks into the provisions. This time dinner consisted of pastrami, salami, naan bread, pepper jack cheese cubes and chips and such. We even kept it under 80 bucks for a change!!!
Being that diesel is sky high thanks to Putin, I thought I best save the money and eat the free breakfast included with the room.
With diesel running around 4.50, I just could not justify getting the King cake a Kroger.
I always like to thank @dswigle for taking the time to make Market Friday a fun event every single week!
Oh I would be remiss if I forgot to mention that the trees are starting to bud!
Plus some daffodils are starting to bloom!
This is the after 12 hours on the road me wolfing down a frozen eggroll.
I had to pull the bench into the shade so my big helper could cool off. It was feeling way more than 70 in that Southern sun!

It's not the south! Well, maybe where you are, but, I'm am very North of you. It looks like a nice little town. I know I have been through it once or twice, Not really much there, but, you are looking for things to do, just buy, so it will be the perfect place instead of going to Roanoke. They will even have that woodchipper you long for.
That sure is one adventure that you are having right now, you won't know what to do with all that free time once you get resettled.
You should have ditched the food and gone for a King Cake! It is one of those things associated with Mardis Gras!! I am sure you would love that unique flavor that only NOLO can do! :) king cake is a cinnamon-flavored dough that they cover in sweet green, gold, and purple sugar and/or icing. Gold for power, purple justice, and green for faith. I have had a praline one and cream cheese but like the traditional one best. Best part? If you are lucky enough to find a little baby in the cake, you get to host the very next Mardis Gras party! What a prize! It is actually very coveted!
Haha! Yes! Whitesnake and roadtrips! Perfect @buffalobison!! Hop in - @geneeverett, @jayna, @jacey.boldart, @marxrab ! I'll bring the stale KingCake!
Oh, I forgot!
#MarketFriday loves you!
All I know is where I will be building, they sure got the South in their mouth. Of course that is very obvious to my Northern ears which you might even not pick up on being you have been down there for so long!
I always thought if I won the lottery that going around to visit Hivers and vlog along the way would be a fun thing to try once in a while!!
Actually, up here, they are distinctly Northern sounding, unless they come from down there. Even if I go over to the Blue Ridge Mountains to go hiking, they sound like Dixie.
That sounds like fun!
Yes but perhaps to us folk up North you sound a bit like Dixie 😯🤣
Doubtful. Obviously, you have never heard me speak or you wouldn't say that.
I was wondering where you were and what was going on. Now I see.
Spring has sprung by the looks of things. For the price of the room I think you're doing alright. Wood chippers vs snow blowers that must be a huge change in thinking.
It's like riding a bicycle.
Let's see if all the commands work haha
!LOL !PIZZA !hivebits !LUV
Yeah it is crazy when used to posting nearly every day, missing a few feels like an eternity! Getting back in the groove is good though!

That room looks very decent for the price you paid.
Before I read your words below it, I thought you had stocked up on King's Cakes !
The gas prices are hideous for sure !
I was a good boy and did not buy one. I read up on them and kind of wish I had. Did you ever try one?
I have never tried one either and I tried to think when I saw your photo if I had ever seen one for sale around here. I don't know if any of the local bakeries make them at this time of year or not. So.... no ! I never have, but would be tempted to try one if I saw it.
Yeah road trips are going to hurt for a while with the gas prices skyrocketing. As you said — thanks Putin. Geez. What a world.
Pretty amazing that it’s still possible to find accommodations for $50 a night! “A bed and a bible kind of place” cracked me up!
It’s definitely something how different places around the country have very different wares at the hardware stores. We won’t see 70 degrees for a while here in Minnesota. Although — would you believe it is actually raining right now? Naturally it will all freeze over!
I have to admit I stole the "bed and a Bible". If you ever watched the Andy Griffith Show there is a recurring character Mr Darling played by the late great Denver Pyle. One episode he is checking in and is asked if he needs this or that amedity to which he replies, na just a bed and a Bible lol
Just moved to Virginia and the weather has been beautiful. We have tons of daffodils blooming. We often have nice weather in March but then around the end of April we have some cold snaps before the last frosts of the season. I love that Lowes and all the stores have gardening stuff out and ready to go. It's exciting!
Oh great to see you around and awesome on us being neighbors lol! If I remember correctly you were in Tennessee so the weather change is not as huge, but I can say I am loving it. We are supposed to start off the week with ankle deep snow back in Michigan :(
