Market Friday in Diagon Alley

How do you feel about Harry Potter? Not to Harry personally, but to the Harry books and movies? I've been left with a mixed impression of the book series. The thing is, I adored Sirius Black. I read the first books with great pleasure, and believed that world literature was enriched with a wonderful new fantasy saga for children. But when the author killed off Sirius Black, I had a lingering feeling that the plot took a wrong turn somewhere. The further I read, the stronger it felt. I stopped feeling like I was reading a children's book. The characters in the books were suddenly in an adult world with brutal laws, and no one was going to make allowances for age.

Diagon Alley. Shop. Cafe. I solemnly swear that I am up to no good

I spotted a little shop with the catchy name of Diagon Alley while walking around Petrogradsky Island. Near the entrance was a small table for those who prefer to drink coffee outside rather than in a stuffy room. Nearby there was a parking for visitors' vehicles.

A few steps down, and I'm in the shop. The area closest to the entrance was for souvenir trading, while on the far side there were tables. I entered the cafe early in the morning, almost as soon as it had opened, and there were no other customers yet. I was lucky, I was able to take a lot of pictures without inconveniencing anyone.

The prices of souvenirs are quite high in this shop. Is it because you have to pay royalties for using the brand? I don't know, I'm not an expert in the field, but I was unpleasantly surprised by the prices of some goods. The prices of coffee and snacks are average, they are close to the prices in other outlets in a similar price segment. But I really liked the staff in this cafe-store, cheerful and friendly young men who are always ready to answer in detail all the questions that come up. In my opinion, you can come here to have a coffee or a creamy beer, try on a distributing hat and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Harry Potter world.

What a fun shop. I really like the Harry Potter series. It is what really sparked my love for reading!

Thank you very much!

I like the owl in the cage, Is it real (?)

Great post, thanks for sharing

Ha ha... It would be a surprise to meet a real live owl there! I can't even imagine how I would feel if that happened!

Great photoset, I personally have never read any of the books, nor seen any of the movies, so I don't understand all the hype, surrounding it. But ho hum, thats just me

I love reading children's books - it's usually a fun read that lifts your spirits.

each to their own I agree, we are all different

Many apologies for running so late this week. Mother's Day was last weekend and it was impossible to do anything but Mother's Day all weekend, which was my pleasure to be treated so wonderfully. That put me severely behind in writing personal responses, but, I did get to read them all, as always. I read and voted your post, so thank you so much, but, it lacks the attention I usually give it.

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.

Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday

Oh, my!! This place was stacked with merchandise!!!

I am well aware of that! There are days when we have to give up all our time for something important. Thank you, have a great weekend!

Thank you for being so understanding!
