RE: The Return of the Dire Wolf: Science, Survival, and a Step into the Past

It's not a true de-extinction because it's not even a true wolf. That research report is just misleading. Although you pointed out that gray wolves and dire wolves are genetically different, I'm surprised you didn't point out to the massive criticism they've got for the sensational claim that they did bring back that long gone species. They didn't. Also, I'm not sure if we should worry about "playing god". If god exists, I'm pretty sure they've killed more species than humans have. That ethical angle is just questionable.

Playing god was just a figurative expression. If I want to be religious, I know which community to post into.

Also, did you read the addendum? I pointed that out clearly. The theme of the post was not really to debunk or criticize.

Yeah, I noted the last paragraph, it's just that the criticism they've got is also part of the news, because it's simply not true that we they resurrected any extinct species! Since you underlined some controversial ethical points of view regarding these kind of projects, I think that exposing why this specific research is misleading should also be covered

Honestly, I would like to cover that in another post entirely. I want to ride on the wave of the trending news to bring some traffic to Hive.
