My Opinion, with Domesticating Wild Animals

in StemSocial2 months ago (edited)

As much as I love pets and an advocate for people to have pets at home, there are simply certain places where I feel the line should be drawn. However, let's begin by reminding ourselves of the reason why we need a pet in the first place.

Pets provide strong companionship, make our lives more beautiful and comfortable, and sometimes even provide us with necessary warmth. However, taking animals from the wild to turn them into household pets is not advisable.

Taking in exotic creatures like pythons, kinkajous, chimpanzees and lots more may not be so convenient or safe for pet lovers even if they greatly desire it. Wild animals have complex behaviors, complex nutritional standards, and physiological needs. It is almost impossible to meet the needs of wild animals as their owners.

Apes, for example, encompass the likes of; gorillas, gibbons, orangutans, and chimpanzees, they are a set of intelligent, highly social, and sensitive animals. Although, looking at them from a distance, let's say a zoo, we may find them highly fascinating and appealing, as they are usually popular for their performance in commercial entertainment.

This may begin to make some pet lovers desire to keep them at home, but the thing about apes is that they could cause unexpected serious injury when they are triggered by aggression, fear, or other forms of powerful force.

Keeping a wild animals as pets is very dangerous, they could scratch, bite or attack even their owner, and talk more about guests and other family members. As a pet owner, you are legally responsible for any form of damage, illness or injuries caused to others and their properties.

It is often almost impossible to find new homes for large animals since the zoos may not have appropriate accommodations for them at the given time. Nature has created animals in the wild for a reason, humans will be trespassing trying to get them. To live with us (domesticating then).

Wild animals carry diseases like; distemper, rabies, tuberculosis, herpes virus, polio, bubonic plague, and a lot more. They also strongly harbor parasites like protozoa and intestinal worms.

There are varieties of domesticated animals that need new homes, in my own opinion, I think it would be a safe idea to get one rather than risking the lives and health of yourself and your family members in trying to get a wild animal home.

Aside from having the desire to own a wild animal, some humans also want to own aggressive pets, for reasons known to them, for some, it may be for some sort of security reasons but I would like to touch briefly on the aggressiveness of pets.

A domesticated dog for instance may become aggressive for different reasons, the breed of some dogs is generally believed to be aggressive. Some dogs living in a single-dog household are more aggressive towards the owner than those who live in a multi-dog household.

Dogs found in rural areas were also found to be more aggressive towards strangers than the ones who live in the cities, time spent with owners is also a very strong trigger towards the aggressive nature of the pet.

For aggressive pets, professional help is the best option here, there are training options known by professionals that can help your aggressive pets begin to act better.

Not only dogs can be aggressive, cats can be too, it is important to identify the cause of the aggressiveness since treatment is dependent on it.
While thinking about purchasing or keeping an aggressive dog, the safety of family members and loved ones is highly paramount.
