Yeast infections can be prevented from happening if we pay attention to basic hygiene as it concerns our pets.In the same vein, we must learn to dry their bodies appropriately after a bath or a swim, make sure their meals are healthy and filled with proteins, and make the brushing of their bodies a regular routine.
To treat the infection, a vet would most likely e an antifungal medication that would include an ointment to be applied to the area affected or a medicated shampoo to help relieve symptoms.
For a more serious case, oral tablets may be recommended. If a yeast infection in the ear has affected the hearing function in your pet, surgery of a total ear canal ablation may be required.Skin biopsy, culture, cytology, and tape impression are diagnoses that can be used to determine the presence of yeast infection in your pet.
