A flying car that can park in your garage

If I told you that flying cars in sci-fi movies are closer to reality than ever, it may seem cliché and such, but it is a fact that several companies are spending a lot of money to make the vision of jetsons a reality today.

Leoflight, an American startup, is one of them, and it is developing a personal vehicle that promises to be able to fly at 400 km per hour and land in its own garage, called LEO Coupe. The Flying car is a compact and ultra-modern hybrid that can transport up to three people. Its main objective is to redefine the concept of urban mobility.

The promise of flying cars has been discussed for decades, but in theory the LEO Coupe brings characteristics that differentiate it from previous concepts, maximum speed of 400 km per hour, autonomy of more than 400 km for a flight of 1 hour and 15 minutes, enough for inter-municipal trips and vertical takeoff and landing using 64 rotors for maximum stability, without the need for runways, in addition to a compact size with only 3 m wide by 6 m long.

The Flying Car fits in a standard garage. leoflight is investing in infrastructure to make this technology viable. The company is developing the Stop ferry, a network of landing points that would allow quick takeoffs and landings in urban and rural areas, for those looking for a more accessible experience. The company also developed the Leo Solo, a single-seat version of the Coupé aimed at recreational flights.

This is a more compact and stable model that stands out for its speed of 101 km/h with a range of 32 km and does not require a pilot's license in the United States. The launch of Leo Solo is scheduled for the end of 2025 and could be the first Flying car accessible to the general public, with this Solo 20 hours of flight would be necessary to obtain a pilot's license and drive this machine through the skies.

There are already investors betting on the idea and the company continues to raise capital to accelerate the project, the launch is scheduled for 2027 or 2028 which is not such a distant future, the leoflight propulsion system has already won the NASA Hero X award and has received support from Darpa for innovation.

With all these advances in the sector, doubt still remains, populous cars will finally become an everyday reality despite the promises there are challenges that still need to be overcome for flying cars to be viable on a large scale more efficient battery regulation and urban air traffic and cost reduction to make the technology accessible to more people, however, companies like Leoflight believe that the era of flying cars is closer than we imagine and with technology advancing so quickly it may not be long before at least the super-rich can replace land cars with flying models.

And would you trust the technology of flying cars or do you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, tell me.
