What do we think about when we find someone stung by a bee? Can we provide some first aid that we can do when it happens?
When we are stung by a bee, the poison contained in the bee's needle-like tail will immediately react and cause the skin affected by the sting to become red and swollen. If this happens, we must provide proper first aid to minimize the occurrence of even more serious conditions at that time.
Is it dangerous to be stung by a bee??
Sometimes a bee sting can be fatal, depending on the number of bees present at the time we are attacked, but it can result in death, compared to other insect stings. Most of these deaths occur due to rapid allergic reactions and can cause the body's adrenaline to go into excessive shock.
However, in fact, a person's reaction to a bee sting can vary, ranging from body swelling and limited to threatening itching. Bee stings contain sharp barbs attached to a poison sac on their tail.
And the poison will be produced into our bodies after the bees land. Allergy to this poison then causes allergic reactions on our skin and body. When it spreads, honey bees leave their stings on the skin and some die when we hit them while they stick to our bodies. In contrast to wasps, ants and scorpions which do not leave their stings.
The result of a bee sting is a heart reaction and the target organs are the skin, blood vessel system and respiratory system.
Treating Bee Stings by:
Wash the area affected by the sting with soap and water after the sting disappears.
Place ice cubes on the area affected by the sting every few minutes. Wrap the ice in a cloth to prevent your skin from freezing due to the cold.
The use of painkillers to limit additional reactions and reduce itching can also be done.
Use pain relievers to treat pain.
Using ointment at the site of the sting can help reduce redness, itching and swelling.
If there is a more severe allergic reaction, use a device or bandage and compress the affected arm or leg because the stung body or hand cannot be moved. Loosen clothes, if you have to go to hospital, and give him something to drink first to prevent toxins from interacting with the blood
Another condition is that when we suddenly vomit, position us so we don't choke. After that, immediately take the patient to the hospital. Because first aid when stung by a bee can only help for a moment. Monitoring from health workers is still needed to reduce the risk of the condition getting worse.
Thank you for your time, and this is what I did at that time with Daya myself, where I was stung by a bee which had a similar incident but the bee was different. And this was Daya's own experience at that time.
Best Regards
