RE: Infrared Light, Nature's Healer?

Also, something very weird I've been noticing lately, if you take a glance at my latest posts, when I spend hours selecting photos and writing and sharing something interesting, I get less upvotes than posts, where I just share few of my travel photos. It's like the community is trying to tell me "don't waste your time here". Rewards have so little to do with content...

I notice the same. I get much more interaction on my shorter ones where I'm just sharing my thoughts as well. I've been writing up some longer posts on biology, health and chronic disease prevention from my own research that I thought I'd share, but I think if it's not of interest to the majority then they don't want to be spending that much time reading it, despite the fact that I think it's useful.

The same probably goes across all social platforms. I'm often surprised at what gets more attention on Instagram from my posts and my daughter pointed out that while some things might be easy to do for me, they look more showy to others. The showy bit also needs to be at the start of the video. 😉

There's also luck of the draw as to which accounts find your post and vote on it here, I suppose.

Sort:

The paradox is at the same time, it seems there are many auto-voting accounts that just calculate word count and place a vote based on that. Hence there are so many who copy/paste and in the last months, use AI to create longer texts, Then in terms more and more of us see this is generated, and less and less read.
I hope that trend from the last few years to blindly upvote longer posts is abandoned for the sake of original and quality content. Before it is too late ;)

You're right, capturing attention seems to be a problem of all social networks.

There were news here, at least two separate cases in the last half of an year where teenagers get electrocuted for climbing on trains trying to make unique selfies.

I wasn't aware of autovoters for higher word count. I guess it's bound to be abused if people know. Sadly some curators recently found someone using some AI generated content who used to (and still does) use original content. A good writer too, so I was wondering why they'd turn to that. Hive certainly brings slightly different aspects which mean content isn't organically lifted in the same way as other social media content.

It's concerning what lengths people will go to for attention. Although soon they won't even need to as AI generated video is improving at a phenomenal rate.

it's bound to be abused if people know

Oh, they do. I even took the liberty of commenting on one of those who states that, in a friendly-banter-ish style, as they even mentioned the length of the text under which the post is considered "shit".
It was an interesting "conversation" and I don't get any vote by that user since :) A bit expected and only confirms my observation that any non-sugar-coated action isn't appreciated here.

Oh, something even more entertaining - long ago I wrote a post about commenting on Hive as I am not a native English speaker but I write my posts usually in English, that's both learning and also, Bulgarian isn't broadly spoken, but I often get comments in Spanish. I asked in a post why people comment in Spanish when the post is only in English, and my Spanish knowledge is basic. Since that post, I don't get any appreciator vote anymore. Speaking of energies, I like that, to be honest :))) If something like this could "flip" their curators, I don't want that attention.

Here, attention usually equals rewards, so shiny AI pictures, videos, texts... even more understandable.

I think people will use more and more AI, they have been since day one here and any honest content creators will find a better use of their time ;) The community is sending mixed signals, many AI features already embedded in some of the frontends, it's a bit confusing, isn't it ;)))
Call me old, but I don't use AI to create content :)))

I find it useful for research, and sometimes solving some RL issues. I believe its best use-cases are for research and development.

I was trying to remember what your native language was. I know one of the other photographers was Finnish and couldn't remember if that was you. You only have slight tells which show English isn't your first language, but that's potentially a good thing because you can't be accused of using AI. 😉 Even the AI checking tools often give false positives.

My most recent post was in a Spanish community, which might explain why I got an appreciator vote on it. 😆 I think at least one of the curators for them is Spanish and it's becoming quite a large language group on here. I have to admit that I'm glad they have appreciator because at one point the had next to no support from any big accounts, but I understand your point as well. I wouldn't comment in a different language to what the post was written in. When it has two languages and one is English I admit I can be a bit lazy if I'm rushed and just comment in English, though.

If you're old then I must be too. 😆 I'd prefer to be using old fashioned images and thanking the people who took the time to create them if I don't have my own. I feel like we're losing touch with real people and the supportive nature of community. I haven't even used AI for research. I still do that the old fashioned way too.

I had a quick look at the AI image creation on peakd (yes, mixed messages for sure) and you need to pay .05 Hive to even generate an image. Not hugely expensive, but what if you don't get quite what you're wanting?

Thank you! I had to work for UK & US IT companies for more than 15 years, so that's all learn on the go, I haven't been to any language school :) Still plenty to learn with regards to the language but doesn't that apply even to our mothers' tongues? :)

Trust me, even if I post in a Spanish community, I won't get an upvote from them, it seems I stepped on someone's toe but truly, I have no idea what could be so wrong. Someone took it personally and told everyone else I am a bad bad person and photographer. Anyway. I don't care much, I have a handful of pleasant people to communicate to, here and that's enough ;)
I think there are much more Spanish speaking users on Hive now, than English-speaking ones, as it's not only Americas, certain parts of Asia also use Spanish. So it is good they have their own supporting whale, too bad the most of them power down and withdraw everything, HIVE is slowly but constantly sinking but that's normal I guess.

I wouldn't pay a dime to generate images with AI, plenty of free stuff online and moreover, it is easy to install AI software like StableDiffusion on your desktop PC and then there are no limits and no censorship (by the way yesterday on the national news a seventh-grader who posted on a social network AI-generated porn pics of some of his classmates, to everyone shock...)

We live in interesting times...

Have a great day :)

I did not know Spanish was spoken anywhere in Asia.

It's a double edged sword in many ways. For example Venezuelans need the income from Hive, but they are also making Hive into a usable currency with businesses there taking Hive/HBD as payment, which should be a good thing, especially if it continues to expand. It's actually in their best interests to see Hive succeed and grow and I know many try only to take out their liquid Hive rather than powering down. But yes, many in the third world countries just constantly power down, which is disappointing and not helping.

a seventh-grader who posted on a social network AI-generated porn pics of some of his classmates, to everyone shock.

I guess it shouldn't come as a big surprise that it would be used in this way, but that's pretty messed up!! I feel for the classmates.

I read somewhere than the major part of the population (more than 100M people, I think) of Philippines speak English, although it is not an official language for the last few decades.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_language_in_the_Philippines

For years, I didn't do a single power down and my idea was to use the liquid HIVE and keep HP forever.
Then I got a big downvote that was lacking any reason, on a travel post of mine that I spent writing for hours, a post of a favorite place of mine, with some great photos included, the post got to the top 3 in pinmapple, back in the times it was called that way. The account that downvoted me at the same time gives 100% upvotes to posts with questionable quality and much bigger rewards that barely add anything of value to the platform. Of course, my subjective opinion.

I know we shouldn't be emotional when it comes to investments but sometimes when I see too many things happening, that I don't like, I do one-week power downs.

To be honest, I make much more HIVE by trading on Binance, selling highs and buying lows, than by creating content, which isn't very inspirational and motivational for me lately :)))

AI is definitely reshaping the landscape of many social networks, web2 and web3, definitely beers and popcorns material :)))
