Says Nvidia CIO Jensen Huang
Imagine arriving at work, if we still have one, and being greeted by robots that naturally walk down the hallways, carry heavy parts with great precision, and solve complex problems before you even realize they exist; That reality isn't just a distant futuristic vision, but something that Nvidia CIO Jensen Huang says is poised to happen in the coming years.
During the GTC 2025 conference, the so-called Super Bowl, Huang made it clear that the revolution of intelligent humanoid robots is already here and the big question now is not if, but when, will you see these robots circulating in the factories around you, during a historic conference in San Jose California the CEO of NVidia said the following "we are at an inflection point, AI has gone from simple perception and computer vision to an intelligence that understands the text, reasons and reacts as an independent agent."
For Huang, we are leaving the era of generative AI and entering the era of so-called physical AI, in which robots understand fundamental principles such as gravity, friction, even the permanence of objects as we humans understand them.
Large-scale teaching of robots
To support that vision NVidia announced the launch of the Isaac GROOT N1, the first open base model for the development of humanoid robotics with advanced AI, the GROOT N1 is not just another Robot but a Revolutionary platform that allows developers from large industries to universities to create humanoid robots capable of operating in real environments, learning from synthetic data and highly accurate virtual simulations.
Envy's grand strategy is the use of virtual environments and situations generated by AI, so-called synthetic data, to teach robots on a large scale. This method makes it possible to accelerate training, reduce costs and radically increase safety during learning.
In partnership with giants such as General Motors Nvidia will apply its Universe and Cosmos Ai technologies to create ultra-realistic virtual environments where robots train through simulation before facing the real world.
And as incredible as it may seem, some still wonder, does it make sense for humanoid robots to be in factories?
For Jensen Huang, yes, he believes that the first places to adopt intelligent humanoid robots will be factories and the reason is simple: they are controlled environments with well-defined tasks and clear regulations. According to him, robots could cost around $100,000, a figure that compared to the current costs of human labor, training and safety quickly becomes attractive to companies, in the words of the CEO of Nvidia.
“The value of this Revolution is very clear, the revolution will not take 5 years, this is a problem that will be solved before that much faster than many people imagine.”
During the event Envy also announced its future graphics architectures Blackwell Ultra scheduled for 2025 and The Revolutionary Robin Ai Chip expected for 2026 both promising even greater computational capacity to boost physical AI and robotics, this powerful infrastructure will be essential to create robots that continually learn and evolve, becoming smarter, more efficient and safer with each new task performed.
At the end of his presentation Jensen Huang took the stage to a small Blue robot that interacted with him naturally, responding to commands in real time. This moment symbolically marked the beginning of the era of generalist robotics, machines capable of adapting, learning and acting as active partners of humanity.
